In May of 2024, a mother, grandmother and two children were killed in an interstate crash involving a passenger vehicle and semi-truck. Wendt Law Firm P.C. was able to obtain a $1.3 million settlement from the various insurance policy limits of those involved. While the settlement will never reverse this terribly tragic incident, we hope it brings some comfort to the surviving family members.

Wendt Law Firm P.C. recently filed this lawsuit in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Jackson County, Missouri against the Center for the Developmentally Disabled for the sexual abuse of a disabled person while the facility knew or had reason to know of the assailant's propensity for aggressive sexual behavior. On the day trial was set to begin, but was delayed for a day due to a snowstorm, Wendt Law Firm P.C. reached a $3,850,000 settlement with the defendants in a sexual assault liability case pending in Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Jackson County, Missouri. Congratulations to the trial team.

A courthouse snowstorm delay led to a $3.85M settlement in a Missouri sexual assault lawsuit alleging negligent hiring and lack of background checks.

Today, Sam Wendt was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Media as a Legal Champion at the annual Missouri Lawyers Awards luncheon.

In 2025, Wendt secured a $5,000,000 settlement on behalf of two sexual assault survivors who were former employees of Branson entertainer, Reza Borchardt. The defendants attempted to block payment unless the plaintiffs accepted confidentiality provisions, which Wendt refused, invoking Missouri’s newly enacted Trey’s Law prohibiting non-disclosure agreements in childhood sexual abuse cases. The matter resolved days before trial with full payment and no confidentiality requirements, allowing the survivors to speak openly about their experiences.
