Not that anyone asked BUT I'm voting for Melesa Johnson for prosecutor. I personally witnessed Tracey Chappell attempt to introduce evidence to a jury about a plaintiff's s*xual history to downplay the s*xual assault the Plaintiff suffered. That is not someone I want deciding on whether to prosecute alleged offenders for s*xual assaults.

In addition to being a lawyer who advocates for s*xual assault victims in the workplace, I also volunteer for MOCSA and this is an issue very dear to my heart. I've advocated for over 40+ survivors of s*xual assault. Most never see justice and I think under Chappell's leadership, even less will.

Lastly, in the spirit of not just voting for the lesser of two evils, I met Melesa Johnson in person at multiple events and her message has always stayed consistent. She wants to fix the foundations of the crime in our community, not just pretend that some humans are inherently bad.

This has been in the works for a while but we are making the name change official in October - along with a party! Bolo for the invite. In June I partnered with Dan Curry and Sarah Alderks Brown and I couldn't be more proud to represent clients with these two!

Another year of service industry advocacy! This year I am working with the the Heartland Center for Jobs and Freedom (Jordan) and we are taking a look at tipping laws. This event is completely free! Huge thanks to recordBar for hosting us again.

You would be doing me a solid if you could please share this. If there is enough interest we can keep doing these. We are also handing out some packets for quick reference at the event.

For anyone on my list that doesn't know - I'm an employment attorney here in Kansas City that represents workers. This is not a call for business from me because tbh I don't usually do cases like these (I do discrimination). I was just in the service industry most of my teen and adult life and noticed a lot of the wage abuse that goes on, so I want to make sure workers are protected.

This is the nightmare of all the women who come to my office who have experienced s*x discrimination or s*x assault at work. This is a message received by a woman who stood up for herself in the work place. As much progress as we have made for women in the workplace this is a harsh reminder that this kind of visceral hate is still out there and very real. This is posted with her permission.
