This is a reminder that the federal filing deadline for 2025 Partnership (Form 1065) and S Corporation (Form 1120-S) tax returns is Monday, March 16, 2026.

Businesses should ensure their returns are filed or extended by this date to avoid potential IRS penalties. The deadline is typically March 15, but in 2026 it falls on a weekend, so the due date moves to the next business day, March 16.

1095-A MARKETPLACE INSURANCE EDUCATION POST ✊🏾
Please read this before saying “I don’t have that.”

✍🏾 What is a 1095-A?
A 1095-A is a tax form issued for Marketplace health insurance. It reports the months you were covered, the monthly premium amounts, and any advance premium tax credit (subsidy) paid on your behalf. If a subsidy was used, the IRS requires this form to complete Form 8962. No 1095-A means your return cannot be completed correctly.

👉🏾 “But I never signed up for Marketplace insurance.”
That does not mean you didn’t have it.

You can still have a 1095-A if you applied for Medicaid and the system routed you through the Marketplace, if your state uses the Marketplace to determine Medicaid eligibility, if you were denied Medicaid but temporarily enrolled in a Marketplace plan, if a subsidy was applied automatically based on income, or if someone helped you apply and you didn’t fully understand what was submitted. Medicaid and the Marketplace communicate with each other, so one can trigger the other without you realizing it.

📌 Medicaid vs Marketplace (Important)
Medicaid usually issues 1095-B or nothing at all. Employer insurance issues 1095-C. Marketplace insurance issues 1095-A.

👉🏾 DSS does NOT issue 1095-A forms.
Calling DSS will get you a 1095-B or 1095-C, which I do not need. If Marketplace coverage or a subsidy exists, the IRS requires 1095-A. Period.

👉🏾 “I don’t have a 1095-A.”
That is not your decision. That is the IRS’s decision.

If the IRS system shows Marketplace coverage, your return will be delayed, frozen, or rejected until it is reconciled. Saying you don’t have it does not override federal requirements.

✍🏾 How to Get Your 1095-A

👉🏾 Option 1: Online (Fastest)
Go to HealthCare.gov, log into your account, select the correct tax year, download Form 1095-A, save it or take a clear screenshot, and upload or send it to me.

👉🏾 Option 2: Call the Marketplace
If you cannot access the website, call the Marketplace Call Center. Have a pen and paper ready ✍🏾. Ask for your 1095-A details and write the numbers down exactly as they read them to you, including the policy number, monthly premiums, and monthly subsidy. Take a picture of what you wrote and send it to me. Writing it down is fine as long as the numbers are accurate.

🚫 What Not to Do
Do not call DSS. Do not send 1095-B. Do not send 1095-C. Do not guess numbers. Do not ignore it.

✊🏾 Why This Matters
The IRS cross-checks Marketplace data. If a subsidy was paid and not reconciled, refunds get delayed, returns get frozen, IRS letters get sent, and corrections are required. I am not being difficult. I am being compliant.

EIC & Refund Timing FAQ

What is EIC?
EIC stands for Earned Income Credit. Returns with EIC are legally delayed every year under the PATH Act.

What is PATH?
PATH (Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act) requires the IRS to hold EIC refunds until after February 15.

Why was my return accepted but not moving?
Returns submitted before 1/26 were received during IRS hub testing. The IRS did not start processing returns until 1/26.

When does the 21-day timeline start?
The 21 days start from 1/26, not your submission date.

When should I check “Where’s My Refund”?
After 2/16. Checking before that for EIC refunds will not show real updates.

Is this normal?
Yes. This happens every year for EIC refunds.

A lot of people pull IRS transcripts and don’t actually understand what the codes mean. These are the most common IRS transaction codes and what they really indicate.

■ 826 — Refund Applied to Debt
Your refund was used to cover an existing obligation such as child support, student loans, or state taxes. Those funds will not be sent to you.

■ 846 — Refund Sent
This confirms the IRS released your refund. The date listed is when the funds left the IRS, not when your bank receives them.

■ 570 — Refund On Hold
Processing has been paused due to a review. No refund will be issued until the review is completed.

■ 810 — Refund Frozen
A full stop on your refund due to identity verification, examination, or security concerns. Action is required before anything moves.

■ 811 — Freeze Removed
The IRS lifted the freeze. The next step is waiting for a refund release code.

■ 971 — IRS Notice Issued
The IRS sent correspondence regarding your account. This may involve verification, corrections, or missing information. Monitor your mail.

■ 977 — Amended Return Logged
Your amended return (Form 1040-X) has been accepted and entered into processing.

■ 424 — Return Under Review
Your return was selected for additional examination. This does not automatically mean a full audit, but it does require attention.

■ 425 — Examination Update
Movement or change in the exam process. Interpretation depends on prior transcript activity.

■ 768 — Earned Income Credit Posted
This reflects the Earned Income Credit amount applied to your return.

■ 177 — Penalty Reduced
The IRS reduced or removed an estimated tax penalty.

Just a friendly reminder about peak season.

Every year around this time, I see the same thing happen. Peak seaon is upon us!

People jump on seasonal and warehouse jobs so they can make sure their kids have a good Christmas…. Nothing wrong with that, I love the hustle, BUT

here’s where a lot of folks get tripped up….they go EXEMPT so their checks look bigger. It feels like a win until tax season comes, and now instead of a refund, you’ve got a tax bill, and trust me, that IRS letter ain’t worth it.

If you’re working peak season, keep your withholdings right. Don’t set yourself up for pain in January just to have a few extra dollars now.

Dear Valued Clients,

I want to take a moment to personally apologize for my absence over the past few days. This past Sunday, I was diagnosed with a chronic skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), which has caused me significant pain and made it difficult for me to work. As much as I want to be in the office preparing returns and answering your calls (text), my health has to come first right now.

I also want to sincerely thank everyone who has been praying for me, checking on me, and sending kind words. Your support means the world to me, and I truly appreciate it more than I can express.

My goal is to return to the office by Monday, and I will do my best to catch up as quickly as possible. If you have urgent concerns, please send me a message, and I will respond as soon as I can.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and support. I’m looking forward to getting back to doing what I love and serving you all very soon.

With gratitude,
Temeka

Due to me being exposed strep throat, the office will continue to be closed for the next couple of days. I can’t take a chance on anyone in my office getting sick or the customers and clientele of other business owners in my building being exposed. I will be available by phone and I’m having my laptop brought to me tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience. 😒
