🏡 Montana Homeowners

Did you know you might qualify for a property-tax rebate or exemption?

The Montana Department of Revenue recently opened applications for the new “homestead” tax exemption, meaning many Montana homeowners could get significant tax savings in 2026.

Here’s how it works:
• If you own and live in your home as your primary residence (usually for at least 7 months per year), you may qualify for the reduced homestead tax rate.

• If you already received the 2024 property-tax rebate, you are automatically enrolled for the reduced rate, so you don’t have to re-apply, as long as you haven’t sold or moved.

• If you haven’t applied before, now’s the time, the application period just opened.
