On July 27, 2025, ICE interrogated and ultimately detained my client in a walmart parking lot in Cheektowaga, New York because he was "Hispanic" "dressed in construction attire" and in a "work van bearing Indiana license plates". He was denied a bond hearing on August 26th and his motion to reconsider was denied on September 16th. We didn't give up. On November 18th, with the assistance of a great lawyer in Buffalo, we got an order from the federal district court directing the immigration court to conduct a bond hearing. Over ICE's continuing objection, we got a bond order on November 25th and, finally, on the afternoon of November 28th, ICE complied with it.
Congratulations to my client who is now on his way home to his wife and daughters.

On March 2, 2024, a 3 year old boy attended a scheduled appointment at the border in Brownsville, Texas and was allowed to enter the USA to seek asylum with his mother. His father and grandfather had recently been murdered by one of the cartels in Mexico. The family hired a lawyer (me) and they filed a timely asylum application. That application remains pending before the Detroit Immigration Court and we are awaiting a hearing on it. On June 20, 2025, the US Department of Homeland Security sent that little boy a letter saying, despite the pendency of his asylum case, that he must leave the USA "immediately" and threatened him with "potential criminal prosecution".
Jesus was a child asylum seeker in Egypt.
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Congratulations to my client. Last night he was released from ICE detention at the Moshannon Valley Jail in Pennsylvania based on an immigration judge's bond decision. ICE refused to give him a bond and fought against bond before the immigration court but, ultimately, decided not to appeal the judge's decision.
