ATTENTION ANY NONCITIZEN IMMIGRANTS WHO PLAN TO FLY DOMESTICALLY AND WHO DO NOT HAVE LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS: Trump announced that immigration (ICE) agents will deploy to airports TODAY under the direction of “border czar” Tom Homan. The deployment comes as talks to fund the Department of Homeland Security have yet to yield a breakthrough.
Allegedly, using ICE agents in airports is to help alleviate the strain on Transportation Security Administration workers which continues to cause mounting travel disruptions. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, PLEASE CANCEL OR DELAY AIR TRAVEL until the partial government shutdown has resolved and, hopefully, ICE will be removed from airports.

ENGLISH: Some good news in the midst of the current immigration turmoil:

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked President Trump’s asylum ban for the southern border, determining it violates federal immigration laws that protect the rights of people refuge in the U.S. The decision from U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss blocks an executive order that ended asylum for everyone who does not enter the U.S. at a port of entry. Moss found that the order violated the federal laws that control immigration, known as the Immigration and Nationality Act, or INA. The INA sets out guidelines on who qualifies for asylum and how they can seek legal protections in the U.S., guidelines that everyone, including the government, is required to follow. Moss also rejected the idea that Trump has inherent presidential authority over decisions about who enters the country. Moss found that if the executive order was allowed to go ahead, it would render most of the INA “merely optional,” and our country’s laws are not optional, even for the president. Thanks go to the American Civil Liberties Union, The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, the Florence Project, and 13 anonymous asylum seekers who brought the suit. The government had initially promised not to deport the thirteen Plaintiffs in the suit, but now this court decision covers ALL asylum seekers, nationwide. However, the judge postponed implementation of his ruling for 14 days to give the administration an opportunity to appeal.

ESPAÑOL: Buenas noticias en medio de la actual crisis migratoria:

Un juez federal bloqueó el miércoles la prohibición de asilo del presidente Trump para la frontera sur, al determinar que viola las leyes federales de inmigración que protegen los derechos de las personas refugiadas en Estados Unidos. La decisión del juez de distrito estadounidense Randolph Moss bloquea una orden ejecutiva que puso fin al asilo para todas las personas que no ingresen a Estados Unidos por un puerto de entrada. Moss determinó que la orden violaba las leyes federales que controlan la inmigración, conocidas como la Ley de Inmigración y Nacionalidad (INA). On May 19, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Donald Trump's administration to strip approximately 350,000 Venezuelans living in the United States of their temporary protected status (TPS), a protection for deportation granted them by the Biden administration. This is part of the president’s move to ramp up deportations as part of a hardline approach to immigration. Previously, a San Francisco-based U.S. District Judge, Edward Chen's, issued an injunction halting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's decision to terminate TPS for Venezuelans because their home country is not safe. According to the U.S. Department of State, Venezuela is unsafe for a variety of reasons, including a high level of violent crime, political instability, and a significant decline in basic living conditions. The U.S. Department of State advises against all travel to Venezuela due to these risks. Even so, the U.S. plans to deport hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans previously in the country legally, most of whom are not criminals or gang members, but instead are every day citizens, parents and children, opponents to the dictatorial regime in the country, and professionals including lawyers, doctors, teachers, nurses, and other health care workers. El 19 de mayo de 2025, la Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos autorizó al gobierno de Donald Trump a despojar a aproximadamente 350.000 venezolanos residentes en Estados Unidos de su Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS), una protección contra la deportación que les otorgó el gobierno de Biden. Esto forma parte de la iniciativa del presidente para intensificar las deportaciones como parte de una línea dura hacia la inmigración. Anteriormente, el juez de distrito estadounidense Edward Chen, con sede en San Francisco, emitió una orden judicial que detenía la decisión de la secretaria de Seguridad Nacional, Kristi Noem, de cancelar el TPS para los venezolanos debido a que su país de origen no es seguro. Según el Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos, Venezuela es insegura por diversas razones, entre ellas un alto nivel de delincuencia violenta, inestabilidad política y un deterioro significativo de las condiciones básicas de vida. El Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos desaconseja todos los viajes a Venezuela debido a estos riesgos. Aun así, Estados Unidos planea deportar a cientos de miles de venezolanos que ya se encontraban legalmente en el país. La mayoría de ellos no son delincuentes ni pandilleros, sino ciudadanos comunes, padres e hijos, opositores al régimen dictatorial y profesionales como abogados, médicos, maestros, enfermeras y otros trabajadores de la salud. Social Security Card Updates:
If you have recently Naturalized (become a U.S. Citizen), have an approved employment authorization document (EAD), otherwise known as a work permit, have an approved green card/legal permanent residency (LPR), or other immigration status and need a new social security number or social security card you will need to complete paperwork at www.ssa.gov/number-card, then make an appointment at your local SSA office and bring your ID, EAD, green card, etc. with you to the appointment. Your new card will then be mailed to you. This is a change from previous cooperation between DHS/USCIS and the SSA to automatically issue cards to approved applicants.

Actualizaciones de la Tarjeta del Seguro Social:
