🏡 AUGUST HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR CURRENT OR FUTURE SELLERS
Thinking about selling your home this fall—or sometime next year? Small maintenance projects completed now can prevent inspection surprises and help your property make a stronger first impression.
Your August checklist:
✅ Replace the HVAC filter and clear debris from around the outdoor unit. (Do this monthly or quarterly depending on your system, pets, etc) Also schedule your furnace check-up NOW to prevent/repair issues before you need your furnace this FALL.
✅ Check gutters and downspouts for clogs, damage, and proper drainage away from the foundation. Water is one of the most damaging things to your home. Keep water 3+ feet away with downspout extensions. Fill in low spots around the foundation.
✅ Inspect exterior caulking around windows and doors to help prevent drafts and moisture intrusion.
✅ Trim bushes, trees and landscaping away from the roof, siding and walkways.
✅ Touch up peeling exterior paint and repair loose siding, trim or shutters.
✅ Clean decks, patios, porches and outdoor furniture.
✅ Test smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors.
✅ Look beneath sinks and around appliances for signs of leaks or moisture. Clear out the extra clutter.
✅ Declutter the garage, basement and storage areas before cooler weather arrives.
✅ Take care of small repairs you have been postponing. Loose handles, dripping faucets and damaged screens are easy to notice during a showing.
