Update: 4:00 p.m. July 20th - IT'S HERE! Big Boy has arrived at Jefferson Landing SHS
Attention! Attention! To all train enthusiast in mid-Missouri!
TONIGHT, Monday, July 20, the Union Pacific Big Boy NO. 4014 steam engine will depart St. Louis and travel to Jefferson City, the exact arrival time is TBD.
This event is part of the America's 250 historic coast-to-coast tour.
The train will overnight in Jefferson City and WILL NOT BE OPEN for public access at this stop. The train will depart the capitol city tomorrow July 21st at 9:00 a.m. heading for California, Mo. for a brief stop (10-10:15 a.m.) before continuing on to Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. arriving around 5:30 p.m. There the public will have access to the train until 8 p.m.

Want a glimpse of the train? Stop by Jefferson Landing SHS (100 Jefferson St.) and watch from Water Street, which offers some shade. Another great vantage point will be from the Missouri Bicentennial bridge over the railroad tracks from the Capitol grounds to Adrian's Island. A final viewing area would be the pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River.
HEAT ADVISORY!
If you come out to watch the train's arrival and departure, please consider the heat and take the necessary precautions to keep cool. Please bring water, wear light-colored loose-fitting clothing, and consider bringing an umbrella for shade. Know the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and take action to move to a cooler location and seek treatment immediately. Symptoms include but are not limited to confusion, hot/dry skin or profuse sweating, high body temp., fainting and seizures.
