Yes, my name really is Robin Hood. My law firm thought I was messing with them when they got my resume. You've got to understand, I was born in the early 1970s to a young couple, and my father was a real smartaleck. Still, it's a very fitting name; I get to go up against the VA and get benefits for deserving Veterans and widows. :)

Monday Update:

Friday was June 12, which is the quasi recognized Women’s Veterans Day.  as in it is not an official federal recognized holiday but a lot of states and organizations informally recognize it.  one of my colleagues organized an event,  and one of my medical providers was a lead sponsor so my wife and I took a day trip down and attended.

 I made some useful contacts and heard from some very accomplished and inspirational ladies.

 I’m still working on converting my unwieldy training PDF  to screen recording with voiceover in an effort to get our current crop of greenhorns up to speed.  I want my legacy to be a functioning sustainable department,  and I think the key is training.  I want to be able to get somebody fresh off the street and within a few days have them understand enough of the basics and enough of our procedures to have some confidence and be useful. 

 busy day today, cardiac rehab at 0700,  a zoom call with upper management about procedures,  and taking my wife to physical therapy after her knee surgery in the afternoon.  she’s out of the wheelchair and using a walker and is starting PT finally.

Rating Decision dated 05/23/2026, Service connection for lumbosacral strain was granted at 40 percent effective April 3, 2026, and service connection for left and right lower extremity femoral radiculopathy was granted at 20 percent each effective April 3, 2026.

Rating Decision dated 06/01/2026, Service connection for a linear, painful right lateral leg surgical scar status post fasciotomy was granted at 10 percent effective May 1, 2025, and the existing 0 percent evaluation for the linear right lateral leg surgical scar status post fasciotomy was continued.

Monday Update.

I haven't posted one of these in a while.... I've been a little preoccupied taking care of my wife, who had knee surgery. Bought a wheelchair, built a ramp... she took care of me while I was down for the count from my heart surgery, so now it's my turn. She's finally out of the wheelchair and is using a walker so that's good.

I am SLOWLY taking new clients. As in, the folks that actively reach out to me for help. I still don't have the energy to get out there and actively hustle or market. I'm at about 60 percent, staminawise, compared to what I was before. I'm halfway through the cardiac rehab program, so we'll see if that changes.

I think I've already proved that I can make money and help people doing this. I just checked and my software shows over $18,000,000 in fees since I left VA and started doing this. That's nearly $100,000,000 in retroactive benefits, and probably some multiple of that going forward into the future.

I think for me, success is going to be "Can I train the next generation and build a sustainable department that can do as good a job at helping folks and letting us earn a living while we're at it?"

So that's my current plan, I think. Keep up the good work of course, but working on building out a training program and documenting procedures etc is something I'm very interested in.

In May I won 21 cases, with retro of around $500,000 in total.

Monday Update!

I am slowly starting to take on new cases and schedule phone consults (on Wednesday only!). I can't dive in with both feet like I want to, because that about killed me. So gonna ease back into it.

My wife Dana had knee repair surgery last week, and that's got me working from home as caregiver. Bought a power wheelchair and ramps so she can toodle about the house but I still gotta be here and do things; there's so much that you don't even think about when it comes to being physically disabled, even temporarily.

I'm off to cardiac rehab. 0700 comes stupid early. And then I gotta go to the hospital and regulate because our insurance switched from CIGNA to Blue Cross Blue SHield and now my wife's knee rehab is broken, so I will go figure it out. BCBS+Medicare should result in SOMETHING being available. VA care is maybe an option of last resort but it's there.

Today I'm having a meeting with one of my firm's Marketing Guys to talk about our Intake. It's not my name on the side of the building, so I have limited input in how our call center and other processes operate, but I'll still try and do what I can to fix the pain points.

I see like four or five people sent me messages over t he weekend that I need to follow up with today. If that's you, stand by, I'll get to you today.

RD 04/30/2026 EED for R shoulder granted back to date of claim 06/23/2025.

RD 04/30/2026 Implements BVA Rmenad 11/06/2019 (!?!?) SC for psych granted at 30 eff 11/26/2018, 70 eff 03/05/2026, C&C eval vestibular disorder at 0. Need HLR re eff date of evaluation. "The garbage exams were the whole reason for the the appeal, and it took YEARS to get a fair exam, and now VA is staging the ratings using the garbage exams that lead to the appeal and only starting his fair 70 percent evaluation from date-of-exam 03/05/2026? I think not! If those exams weren't good enough to grant from they're not good enough to assign an evaluation from. I want 70 percent all the way back to 11/06/2019, possibly with TDIU in play."

RD 04/30/2026 SC for TMJ granted at 20 eff 02/19/2026 (526ez we submitted as a courtesy, no fees)

RD 04/30/2026 implements BVA decision 03/20/2026. Eval R knee increased 10 to 30 eff 05/16/2019. Back increased form 0 to 20 eff 05/16/2019. LLE radiculopathy granted at 20 eff 05/16/2019. RLE radiculopathy granted at 20 eff 05/16/2019. C&C evals B ankles at 10 each. Takes Vet from 30 to 80 percent all the way back to 05/16/2019.

The bipartisan bill would block companies from using auto-dialers to harvest private information about disabled veterans. The firms charge veterans for a service lawmakers say is supposed to be free.

Monday Update. End of Month Update.

Last month I put over a million dollars worth of appeal retro into the hands of my Veteran and widow clients. So far this year, that's in the ballpark of 3.5 million dollars.

My inventory is currently 606 cases, (with 40 of those being intended to assign to Randy when his accrediation comes through). We closed 60 cases this month.

I haven't been taking any new clients since my heart attack/quadruple bypass at the end of January. Well, now it's been 90 days, and maybe I should start hustling for cases again.

So, I need to update my autoresponder messages etc. Pretty much if you have a decision within the last 10 months you'd like help with, we can look at it for you. Maybe we can do something about it or maybe not and we'll have to cut ties shortly thereafter if there really is nothing we can do to help, but at least we can cut out some of the friction from our intake process.

I am still going to be MUCH MORE MINDFUL of my health and what my limits are. I worked as hard as I possibly could and it almost killed me, so I gotta figure out what working hard without dying looks like going forward.

For the moment, in May, I'd like to take on 50 cases, half of which I'll keep and half I'll give to the new attorneys I'm mentoring. Let's see if I can rustle up 50 cases this month via my own efforts and my network of allies?
