The Verdict is in!: Phillips & Hunt got the 2nd largest jury verdict in Florida in 2019. Our 2019 award of $495,123,680.00 was just listed by Verdict Search as the second highest verdict in Florida and the eighth largest in the country. It still is earning interest and will be increased by attorneys fees and costs, surpassing over half a billion dollars. We are so proud Kalil McCoy stands at the very top in Duval County, Florida and the nation.

As a business owner with 17 employees, last week was filled with ups and downs- unprecedented victories in the courtroom and the losses clients endure. We will remain open but will do it safely. We owe it to our clients to remain “open.” Their injuries don’t wait. Their child support or severe family problems don’t wait. Some sit in jail while courts have closed the doors on them. We are committed to justice®. It’s not just a saying. It’s a weird time where government is becoming more authoritarian, while the court system is closing its doors.

We are addressing each and every employee’s needs and abilities to work from home and as I said to them, they should be “worried about their family and I am worried about all 17 families (and more) we support. Especially those who are in daily contact with anyone elderly or infirmed.”

I’ll be at the office every single day. Alone if need be. It’s walking distance from my house. Our phones are open 24/7. I couldn’t be prouder of my team and will do everything to pay them 100% through all of this while other firms are cutting back.

I love them. They are family. You can choose a lot of lawyers in town. I don’t know why some choose off of commercials. Or choose lawyers who aren’t board certified as experts when you pay the same. Or hire lawyers who put themselves over their staffs. We will be hiring soon. This post is a thank you to our amazing team. We are here for you.

The coronavirus prevented a few get togethers and a St. Patrick’s Day Party we wanted to have at the Duuuval House or our new Duuuval Deck at the future office. Better safe, than sorry. I truly believe The Florida Bar needs different voices. Voices who represent the -people- of the 4th Judicial Circuit, not just government and business lawyers. It’s going to take a movement to win, as my opponent has run this race since 2018 and, well, will serve us well. I just want to serve us differently.

I am beyond humbled, grateful and awestruck by this. Thanks to Angela and the boys. Thanks to everyone who has ever worked with me... Every client... But especially Ron Davis and Lucy McBath, Trenton Green Sr. and Harriet McNeal, PastorPatti Lynnette Israel-Roebuck. I still walk with Jordan, Brandon and Kalil daily.

It’s official. It’s Day.

I started this firm July 5, 2011. Matt joined us August 5, 2015. He became the youngest Board Certified Marital & Family Lawyer in northeast Florida this year. Throughout the day, we will be sharing some things from the last four years.

John got his FOURTH law license today- FL, GA, AL and DC.

The Court of Federal Claims is the court which decides monetary claims against the U.S. government. It has been called the "keeper of the nation's conscience" and "the People's Court." It's one of the highest courts in the land and one of its judges was a summer professor of John’s. Judge Bruggink swore him in today.

Folio Weekly's Best of Jax is going on. We’ve gotten Best Lawyer / Law Firm a few years in a row. They’ve broadened and changed up the voting. You can vote daily.

Matt Hunt is up for Best Family Lawyer and Best Divorce Lawyer. He is awesome.

Kirby Johnson is up for Best Insurance Claim Lawyer. He deserves it based on the work he’s doing for the fire victims at Jacksonville Townhouse Apartments and other cases. Do not vote for me.

Finley Williams has tried more cases than I have and has never lost a felony trial. He’s up for Best Criminal Lawyer, DUI Lawyer and Ma*****na Lawyer. It is also 444-HIGH after all. Don’t vote for me.

Billy Walker is my steady wingman. He’s up for Best Compensation Lawyer. Note he’s listed as William K. Walker. He shares a name with another fine lawyer (who I don’t think even does this area).
