We are pleased to announce four new shareholders: Craig Linn Ames, Karen Ibach Bowden, Jared J. Burns, and Jackie Van Laningham. Jared has been promoted to President and will manage the general operations of the firm, Karen will lead our General Counsel Services practice, and Jackie and Craig will serve as corporate officers. We congratulate our new partners and wish them great continued success. We anticipate that the firm will continue to grow. Thus, we are rebranding the firm and will now practice as ABL Law (www.abljax.com), including using new email addresses, which will end with “.com.” All other contact information for our team remains the same.

Further, Mike Abel, one of the firm’s founding partners, has embraced an opportunity to pursue a new chapter in his life. Mike will be joining the law firm Asserson & Company as a partner on the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team. Asserson is a London-based firm with its largest office in Tel Aviv, Israel. Later this spring, Mike and his wife, Jill, will be relocating to Israel to work primarily out of Asserson’s Tel Aviv office, while also spending time in Asserson’s U.S.-based offices serving clients.

Mike had the vision of developing a first-rate boutique litigation and general counsel law firm, and, more importantly, the strength to leave the comforts of a national law firm in 2017 to forge into the world of small business ownership. Daniel Bean also left a national law firm and joined Mike in 2018, launching Abel Bean Law. Working together, the practice developed into something truly special – a team of highly capable, experienced legal professionals who provide superior legal services and consistently secure outstanding results for clients at a tremendous value. ABL Law will continue to build on this foundation, always putting our clients first.

We were honored to have our team participate in Freed to Run 2022, a six-day event consisting of six marathons from Tallahassee to Jacksonville that benefits Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Inc. To celebrate and recognize Mike Freed’s achievement, ABL co-founder Daniel Bean gifted him the Union Jack from the USS Orleck.

We are grateful to be able to participate in this event each year, and to have our co-founders, Mike Abel and Dan Bean, sit as 2022 co-chairs for this fantastic organization. We look forward to taking part of Freed to Run 2023!

Due to Hurricane Ian, the USS Orleck’s official opening date has been moved to Wednesday, October 5th.

Mark your calendars, the USS Orleck will be ready for visitors on October 5th!

After much hard work from volunteers over the past few months, the USS Orleck is officially opening up to the public on Wednesday, October 5th. Visitors will be able to fully experience this landmark piece of the Jacksonville Naval Museum as they walk through the small corridors and stand next to weapons used in World War II.

Vystar Credit Union Members will get an early exclusive look at the ship this Sunday, September 25th between 11am and 4pm by showing their Vystar credit or debit card. The ship will open to the public Wednesday, October 5th, and remain open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays.

September 17th is Constitution Day, a day where we honor the document that guarantees Americans their essential rights. Since its ratification in 1787, the Constitution of the United States has served as the basis for all U.S. laws.

At Abel Bean Law, the Constitution holds a special place in our hearts. Every day, our team proudly adheres to the Oath of Admission to The Florida Bar which requires us to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Florida.

On Saturday, August 27th, Abel Bean Law sponsored a table for the 2nd Annual Fields Auto Group Wishmaker's Ball Jacksonville. Mike and Jill Abel, Dan and Anne Bean and Jared and Melissa Burns, along with ABL guests, enjoyed the black-tie gala that fundraises for children facing life-threatening illnesses in our local communities. Our team was inspired to hear directly from the wish children whose lives have been touched by the power of a wish.

We were ecstatic to provide our support for our local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation through sponsorship and through ABL co-founder Dan Bean’s service on the Advisory Board. This year’s event was a great success and we look forward to continuing to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation!

The Wishmaker’s Ball is Make-A-Wish’s signature black-tie gala that fundraises to grant the wishes of children who are facing critical illnesses in our local communities.
