Some food for thought...Although chances are low, corrosive water (think high alkalinity, high conductivity) will attack active metal surfaces. Over time, the risk of metals being leached into your water increases. Are you considering the risks of your water?

A water softener is a useful tool for exchanging the ions causing that pesky scale on your fixtures and hard water staining. If you are washing your car with well water that has an improperly managed softened water system, you may find yourself with spots like this. Be sure you are routinely inspecting your softener for operation including using an in-home test kit to measure your hardness levels in the home.

Most artesian wells supplying residential properties are outfitted with an aerator for the water to pass through before distribution. Aeration is an important process of making well water palatable. It is useful to rid the water of odors (think that rotten egg smell!) and metals that can contribute to issues downstream and at the taps. If your aerator fails, or it is not maintained, that water can become hazardous. If well water supplies your home, have it tested annually to ensure it is safe to drink!
