Proud big sister moment! This morning, I had the privilege of watching my brother (and our firm’s associate), Chas, argue before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. I’m incredibly proud of the hard work and preparation that went into this moment.

While my own practice focuses on Estate Planning, Probate, and Elder Law, getting to share moments like this with my brother and our dad is one of the unique joys of working together at the same firm.

Last week, I received the Sue Shelton White Award at the 2025 Sterling Awards, and I’m still feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.

Sue Shelton White was a fearless advocate for justice and women’s rights, and to be recognized in her name is an incredible honor.
To stand beside women that are previous recipients of this award, like Mary Jo Middlebrooks and Beth Bates (pictured below), who I’ve long looked up to, makes this moment even more meaningful.

Thank you to the Sterling Awards Committee and to all the women who continue to lift each other up in our community.

Lately, a lot of people have been receiving letters like these after recording a property deed requesting $100-$150 for a "Property Assessment Profile." This is a scam. Please be cautious of these tactics.

If you need a recorded copy of your deed, you can call the Register's Office that it was recorded in and request one.

My dad and I are going to The Eras Tour this weekend, and we are so excited!!!

When I was listening to the setlist, the song "Mastermind" caught my attention. One line in the song says "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Strategy sets the scene for the tale," and I couldn't help but think about how that applies to estate planning.

There is so much more to estate planning than just planning for your death- it is also about planning for the rest of your life. Be the mastermind of your own destiny, and take the first step in your estate planning journey today!!
