After years prosecuting serious crashes, there’s one thing I learned:

Most catastrophic crashes are preventable.

Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of one of the most dangerous stretches of the year on Long Island roads.

Please take a few seconds to watch this.

Saturday, May 2 - Move With MADD Long Island Community Walk at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.

Our firm, Rappaport, Glass, Levine & Zullo, is a sponsor of this year's event. Our team name is Team RGLZ - Home of Motorcycle Mike.

As a plaintiff's personal injury attorney and a former vehicular crimes prosecutor, I have spent the better part of my career working with families devastated by impaired driving. For the last several years, I have served on MADD's Regional Advisory Board for NY/NJ/PA. The need for this work is not slowing down.

We walk for those who no longer can, and alongside those who are learning to move again.

The morning runs 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the community walk stepping off at 11:15. Come for the full event, come just for the walk, or support our team from wherever you are. Every dollar helps MADD continue its mission to end impaired driving for good.

Recently, I received a message that reminded me why this work matters.

Years ago, I was privileged to do pro bono work for U.S. military veterans who needed a helping hand. These were men and women who served our country with dignity and distinction, who sacrificed for our freedom, and who came home to face difficulties.

One of those veterans reached out to me recently. I represented him at his lowest point. He wrote to tell me what happened after I successfully represented him. He married an amazing woman, has beautiful, healthy children, and is thriving in a career he loves, with promotions and recognition for work he is proud of. He sent a photo of his family.

Nothing better.

My practice today is focused on representing men and women in personal injury cases and crime victims. Many of you know my prior work as Chief of the Vehicular Crime Bureau and as a homicide prosecutor working with victims and their families. The thread running through all of it is the same: standing with people who need someone in their corner.

To every veteran I had the privilege of representing, thank you for your service, and thank you for the inspiration.

I’ve been a proud sponsor of the Andrew McMorris Foundation for years, and their Top Gun Race this Saturday, March 28th is an event truly worthy of your time and support.
The work this Foundation does — honoring Andrew’s memory and fighting to prevent the senseless loss of young lives — is inspiring.

Join us for Andrew's Top Gun Run This Weekend!

Andrew had this laugh you could pick out anywhere.
You’d hear it before you saw him - then you'd see him and that smile, big, real, and impossible not to return.

It’s those little things we miss the most. And it’s those same things that live on every time people come together in his name.
Every step, every hug, every smile on race day - it all carries a piece of him forward. The ache of his loss never leaves. But neither does the love.

Andrew’s Top Gun Run 5k is how we turn that love into something powerful, bringing our community together and helping other young people chase their dreams.
Every step on March 28 carries his spirit forward.
If Andrew touched your life…
If you believe in kindness…
If you believe in showing up for one another…
Join us. Or share this so it reaches someone who should be there.

Today, I co-presented a program for trial attorneys: “Trial Practice: Common Issues with Medical Records and Witnesses” alongside the esteemed Judge, the Hon. Thomas F. Whelan, J.S.C., and RGLZ Personal Injury Law trial attorney Maggie Bopp.

The session dove into practical courtroom challenges personal injury litigators face every day—from authentication and admissibility hurdles with medical records to effective strategies for handling expert witnesses on the stand.

Whether you’re preparing for trial or sharpening your advocacy skills, these are the nuances that can make or break a case!

During final summations in a heartbreaking drunk-driving case, Brendan Ahern was handed a pair of eyeglasses by a grieving mother — her son’s glasses. She asked him to keep them in his pocket as he addressed the jury… to help him find the path to justice for her child.

It wasn’t just evidence. It was trust. It was responsibility. It was love.

Legal advocacy isn’t just about arguments — it’s about carrying the weight of someone’s story and fighting like it’s your own.

✅Secured a $750K Settlement - Injured Motorcyclist

Settled this case for $750,000 while it was still pending on the trial calendar. Our client, a motorcyclist, suffered serious injuries when a car made a left-hand turn in front of him, causing a devastating crash.

He endured complex fractures requiring surgery and retrograde amnesia. By working with an expert crash re-constructionist and leveraging Black-box data from the defendant’s vehicle, we proved exactly how the crash occurred and established the defendant’s liability.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle accident, please reach out to me - I will always fight for maximum compensation.

“You feel that they have been denied justice.”

“There are just countless incidences of victims, and victims’ families, not only being deprived justice in the criminal case… But also being deprived of the type of justice they are entitled to in the civil case.”

Hit-and-run crashes don’t just rob victims of accountability in the moment—they deny families the full measure of justice they deserve. These drivers flee to avoid both criminal prosecution and the civil responsibility they owe for the destruction they’ve caused.

At RGLZ we stand shoulder to shoulder with victims and their families every day, fighting for justice in wrongful death and personal injury cases where drivers have fled the scene.

I was recently interviewed alongside numerous subject matter experts for Newsday’s “Dangerous Roads” series, which focused on hit-and-run cases plaguing Long Island. “For anyone that’s ever prosecuted a case like that, that’s sat with families, you feel their pain.”

Hit-and-run crashes result in less serious charges without evidence a driver was intoxicated or drove recklessly.
