It's one of the most common assumptions we hear from investors, and it's not quite accurate.

On the blog, we break down what the E-2 actually grants, how it differs from a permanent path like the EB-5, and what to think through if long-term U.S. residency is the real goal.

Preparing for your naturalization interview? It covers more ground than most people expect: a review of your N-400 answers, the civics test, an English reading and writing sample, and questions about your background since filing.

A few things that help: reread your own N-400 before you go in, be ready to explain anything that's changed since you filed (address, job, travel), and don't over-study the civics questions at the expense of just being ready to talk through your own answers honestly.

Planning to travel abroad for an extended period but worried it could affect your green card? You're not alone, and there's a way to protect your status before you go.

That's exactly what a reentry permit is for. It lets a green card holder stay outside the U.S. longer than a standard trip allows, without it being treated as abandoning residency, as long as it's filed before you leave, not after.

If an extended trip abroad is on your horizon, this is the kind of thing worth checking on early.

Filing for a marriage-based green card? A few things worth getting right from the start:

βœ… Make sure your I-130 and I-485 (if filing together) are complete before submission
βœ… Gather evidence that shows a real shared life β€” not just a marriage certificate
βœ… Keep copies of everything you send.

Small mistakes here are often what turn into delays later.

Did you know becoming a U.S. citizen means you can vote, hold a U.S. passport, petition for family members without the same restrictions, and never worry about renewing a green card again?

For a lot of people, the hardest part isn't deciding whether it's worth it. It's knowing where to start with the civics test and the interview.

That's exactly where we come in. Our team helps clients prepare for both, so you walk in ready instead of guessing.

Myth: "If I marry a U.S. citizen, I automatically become one too."

Reality: being married to a U.S. citizen opens the door to apply for a green card. It doesn't grant citizenship on its own, and it doesn't guarantee approval. There's still a real process ahead, including filing, evidence, and eventually an interview.

Last week our team spent a day together in Colombia, stepping away from our desks to learn, share, and sharpen how we work.

Immigration cases can take months or years, and our clients deserve a legal team that keeps learning and keeps them informed the whole way through.

Grateful for this group and the care they bring to every case. πŸ’™

If you're a U.S. citizen with a sibling living abroad, you can petition for them to immigrate, but it's worth knowing upfront that this category (F4) tends to have the longest wait times of any family-based path, often stretching well over a decade depending on the sibling's country of birth.

That doesn't mean it's not worth doing. It means going in with realistic expectations from the start, rather than being caught off guard partway through.

A few things to have ready: proof of your U.S. citizenship and proof of the sibling relationship, typically both of your birth certificates showing a shared parent.

If you're a U.S. citizen, one of the immigration options people forget to ask about is petitioning for a parent to join you here.

There's no annual cap on these petitions the way there is for some other family categories, which surprises a lot of people once they hear it.

It's not automatic and it's not instant, but if you've been assuming this wasn't an option for your family, it's worth a real look.
