A reckless driver allegedly speeding and weaving through traffic caused a devastating multi-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway in Palms, resulting in a fiery collision that left a blue Prius engulfed in flames.
Witnesses say the SUV crossed multiple lanes before striking the Prius and sending it into the center median. In the chaos that followed, Good Samaritans rushed in to help, attempting to rescue the driver trapped inside the burning vehicle.
One witness, construction worker Jacob Deegan, says he immediately ran toward the scene and even chased down the driver who fled after causing the crash.
The driver of the Prius, a woman, did not survive. Two others were injured.
This tragic incident highlights the devastating impact of reckless driving and the bravery of bystanders who stepped in during a life-threatening emergency.
