cates that works to ensure that our reentry system meets the needs of our agencies, communities, and the people we serve, both in terms of capacity and public policy. Since 2011, LARRP has been building a locally rooted reentry movement to advance positive change for millions of formerly incarcerated and convicted (FIC) Angelinos and build public will for greater equity in the criminal justice system. Since inception, LARRP has worked tirelessly to increase funding for housing, health, and social services for the FIC people and those who serve them.

California made prison phone calls free in 2022, but free calls mean nothing when 800 people are sharing 12 phones, tablets arrive years late, and “free” video calls still cost more per minute than many people inside earn per hour.

Staying connected to family isn’t a luxury. It’s one of the most proven pathways to successful reentry, and right now, the system is making it harder than it needs to be.

At LARRP, we believe communication is a right, not a privilege. California took a bold step with SB 1008. Now it’s time to hold ViaPath and CDCR accountable for actually delivering on that promise.
