What a wonderful evening at the Indiana State Fair! 🎡🇺🇸

Judges, attorneys, and legal professionals came together for America 250: Fairgrounds for Celebration for an evening filled with learning, meaningful conversation, connection, and plenty of State Fair fun.

Indiana Court of Appeals Judge Nancy Vaidik moderated a thoughtful CLE conversation with Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush, Governor Eric Holcomb, and Ambassador Joe Donnelly on public service, their roles in each branch of government, civil discourse, and finding common ground in a divided country.

After the CLE, attendees continued the conversations and caught up with friends over fair favorites and lemon shake-ups during the Red, White & Cheers Reception before heading out to enjoy the State Fair.

On Saturday August 22, Pro Bono Indiana, Inc., One More, and the Indiana State Bar Association are hosting a Disaster Recovery Legal Clinic to assist residents of Indiana impacted by the recent floods. Volunteers will be assisting attendees with flood-specific issues such as insurance claims and denials, applying for government assistance, replacing government-issued documents, avoiding predatory contractors, vehicle and property recovery, and any other civil legal matter that has arisen because of the flooding.

Attendees are also welcome to get assistance from the One More Food Pantry which will be taking place at the same time.

PLEASE NOTE: This clinic is strictly for residents impacted by the recent flooding. General legal questions not related to the floods will not be answered at this event. Legal guidance and brief advice will be limited in scope, attendees will not be represented in court cases by volunteers.

If you cannot make it to the August clinic, volunteer attorneys will also be on site to answer legal questions on September 26.

ISBA’s sections and committees were busy these past couple of months—planning and hosting CLEs, helping Hoosiers with legal questions, and providing resources.

Here are just a few highlights:
- The Environmental Law Section provided a “bootcamp” for new and experienced practitioners alike
- The inaugural class of the Rural Practice Academy met in person for the first time
- The Agricultural Law Section kicked off the State Fair last week and spoke with the new ED Ray Allison
- The Pro Bono Committee helped more than 65 Hoosiers across two free legal clinics
- ISBA members represented Indiana at the ABA House of Delegates
- The Tax Section released a CLE and resources on Indiana’s Tax Amnesty program
- The Appellate Practice Section partnered with Pro Bono Indiana on monthly virtual clinics for pro se appeals

The Indiana State Bar Association, Pro Bono Indiana, Inc., and One More are partnering to provide an in-person, free legal clinic.
