Indy’s legal circles know KGR Partner Melissa Hamer as a construction and environmental law attorney. But what many may not realize is that she’s also a resident gearhead at our firm!

🚘 Last Saturday, Melissa traded contracts for cars and took her “Baby” (a classic Corvette Stingray) for a spin to the Greensburg Municipal Airport for the inaugural Runway Classic. Dozens of automobile collectors, aviation enthusiasts, and community members revved up support for Genesis: Pathways to Success. This Southeastern Indiana nonprofit fuels regional innovation through three-pronged collaboration with youth education, entrepreneurship, and career development.

🤝 While enjoying the impressive car collection on the old airport tarmac, Melissa also connected with several friends and industry colleagues, including Rob Moorhead, President of Genesis, as well as Jason Cheney, CHMM, MBA, Janna Stath, and Stephen Zins from SME (Soils and Materials Engineers), a key event sponsor. Honda also put rubber to the road as presenting sponsor to help Runway Classic fly in its first year.

Did you know Benjamin Harrison, the first and only Hoosier U.S. president, was closely related to one of our country's one Founding Fathers?

His great-grandfather, Benjamin Harrison V, was a Virginia politician, merchant and wealthy landowner elected to the Continental Congress in 1774 and later signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Ayan Reddy, a civic-minded middle schooler from Castle North Middle School in Newburgh, Indiana, has achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring $1,000 and earning a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the 2026 National Civics Bee. Ayan secured victory at the Indiana Civics Bee State Finals with an innovative farm-table solution aimed at enhancing the taste and nutrition of food served in school cafeterias.

Indiana has made a significant impact on the National Civics Bee, highlighted by our 2025 state winner who placed 2nd with a community-based initiative focused on cleaning up rural rivers and lakes.
