Big day at LET!

It is Election Day, Pancake & Sausage Day at IRMC, and Aaron Ludwig’s birthday all rolled into one. Aaron is not only running for East Ward Indiana Borough Council, he is also co-chairing the United Way Campaign, so of course we had to celebrate in style.

The LET crew (AnnMarie, Desiree, and Jillian) surprised him with balloons and “Vote Ludwig” shirts to show our support before heading out to vote and grab some pancakes.

We are proud of Aaron for everything he does for our firm and our community. Happy Birthday and good luck today, Aaron!

Does a prior ARD count as a “first DUI” on your record?

Not anymore.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court recently ruled in Commonwealth v. Shifflett that accepting Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) for a DUI cannot be treated as a prior conviction to increase mandatory sentences on a subsequent DUI.

Key takeaway: If your only “prior” was an ARD, the Commonwealth must sentence you as a first-time offender—unless a jury (or by plea) actually found guilt in that earlier case.
