Two Brevard homes at the same price, on the same street, can carry meaningfully different insurance premiums. Construction type is one of the reasons, and it is not something most buyers think to ask about until the quote comes back.
Masonry construction, the concrete block with stucco that dominates much of Brevard's mid-century housing stock, generally rates better with carriers than wood frame, because block performs differently under wind load. That said, construction type is one input among several, and it is rarely the one that moves the number most. Roof shape, roof covering and its age, roof-to-wall attachment, and opening protection like impact windows or shutters all feed into the wind mitigation credits Florida carriers are required to offer. A frame home with a hip roof, a newer covering, and documented opening protection can quote better than a block home with a twenty-year roof and no report on file.
So verify rather than assume. Confirm the actual construction from the Brevard County Property Appraiser record and the four-point inspection, not from what the stucco looks like. Ask whether a current wind mitigation report exists, and if not, order one. Then get a quote on the specific address before your inspection period closes.
Block is a good starting point. The roof and the openings are usually what write the check.
