The T-bone came at a green light. Your wife walks away with a fractured wrist and a concussion that still hasn't cleared.

Whether her claim tops out at $50,000 or reaches a million comes down to what the driver's phone was doing at that second. Three windows, three answers. App off, and only his personal auto policy is in play. Logged on and waiting for a request, Missouri and Kansas require at least $50,000 per person, $100,000 per incident, and $25,000 for property damage. Ride accepted, from pickup through drop-off, and a $1,000,000 policy takes over.

Same crash, very different coverage. Which window was open at impact is what decides her recovery.

Horn Law, your legal team for immediate legal help when one detail changes everything. The earlier we're in, the more options stay open. Call us: 816-795-7500.

A lot of families assume their own health insurance is the only thing paying for a TBI or spinal injury after a rideshare crash. That assumption can cost real money.

The driver's personal policy is one layer. Not the whole one. Once a ride is accepted, or a passenger is onboard, the rideshare company's coverage climbs to $1,000,000. Depending on the crash, another driver, or a bar that kept serving someone already drunk, can add a separate policy to the mix.

What I see most often is the driver's insurer and the rideshare carrier arguing over whose policy pays first, while a headache that won't quit by dinner remains unaddressed.

Horn Law is your legal team for finding every policy that owes your family money, not just the first one that calls back. We offer immediate legal help. Call us: 816-795-7500. Some recoveries start with the policy nobody checked.

The letter that goes to Uber or Lyft after a deadly rideshare crash in the metro asks for things by name. Dispatch logs. GPS data. In-app communications. The incident report.

That request goes out early for a reason. Detailed trip data is typically kept for a limited period, often ranging from 7 to 90 days, before it gets overwritten. Missouri gives families three years to bring a wrongful death claim. Kansas gives two. The proof usually disappears long before either deadline.

A family can save trip receipts and screenshots on their own. The company's dispatch logs and GPS records usually take a formal legal request.

Horn Law gets that request out while the records still exist, with same-day legal representation. Call us: 816-795-7500.

Downtown KC in July means concert crowds spilling into the street the second a show ends, and rideshare drivers weaving through them to reach a pickup. Not your average two-car wreck.

If a driver hits someone while en route to grab a passenger, Missouri and Kansas law puts that trip in the million-dollar coverage tier, same as once a ride is accepted. Proving the driver was actually en route, not just logged in and waiting, typically starts with screenshots and trip receipts, though the detailed dispatch data usually needs a formal request.

What I tell people after a venue crash is grab names and numbers from anyone who saw it before the crowd scatters. And if a bar kept serving someone who was already visibly drunk, Missouri law may put that bar in the mix too.

If you were hit near a downtown venue this summer, call us: 816-795-7500.

A pizza delivery driver clocked in on three apps at once when the intersection collision happened. Which policy pays first isn't obvious, and that's the point insurers count on.

Missouri and Kansas tie rideshare coverage to app status at the moment of impact, not the moment you called your lawyer. Logged in, no ride accepted: $50,000 per person, $25,000 property damage. Ride accepted or passenger onboard: $1,000,000. The gap between those numbers is where claims get contested for months.

Screenshots and a trip receipt establish the basics. Dispatch logs and GPS timestamps carry more weight, but carriers don't hand those over without a formal request, and that data window closes fast, sometimes within weeks.

Multiple apps running at once complicates things further. Each company will point to the others before admitting their coverage applies.

Don't wait for the story to sort itself out. Call us first: 816-795-7500.

Your teenager logs into the Uber app in a parking lot, waiting on a ride request before class. Another driver blows the stop sign at the exit and hits him head on. What the app was doing at that second decides which policy pays.

In Missouri and Kansas, coverage moves in stages. App off, only his personal policy applies. App on but no ride accepted yet, the required minimum coverage kicks in: $50,000 per person, $100,000 per incident, $25,000 for property damage. Once a ride's accepted, or a passenger's onboard, that number jumps to $1,000,000. Same crash, different payout.

What I see in these files is the driver's insurer and the rideshare carrier arguing over which phase the crash landed in, while medical bills keep coming.

Horn Law is your legal team for pinning down app status fast, with same-day legal help. Before that argument stalls your claim, call us: 816-795-7500.

Skipping a follow-up appointment because you felt a little better that week is the kind of decision that shows up later, in the adjuster's file, not yours.

Adjusters handling rideshare injury claims often treat a gap of 30 or more days between medical visits as evidence the injury wasn't serious, or that something else caused it. What I see in these cases is that the gap argument gets raised early, before anyone's talking settlement numbers, and it can quietly pull the floor out from under a claim that looked solid on paper.

Before that gap becomes a problem in your file, call us: 816-795-7500.

Someone probably told you there's no rush. Missouri gives most rideshare injury victims five years to file, and that part's true.

But the clock may be shorter depending on the claim. A wrongful death case runs three years, and a claim against a government entity can be far tighter. The bigger issue is that the deadline isn't what decides your case. The trip data, the dashcam video, the witness who still remembers which way the other car came from all fade long before five years are up.

A serious Uber or Lyft crash can leave you healing for months while the case quietly weakens. Horn Law, your legal team to step in early and lock down the record, with same-day legal representation when it counts. Call us before that record thins out: 816-795-7500.

The deadline is the last thing to run out.

When a child is more seriously injured in a car accident, everyone mobilizes.

Parents, physicians, therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and educators come together with one priority: helping that child achieve the best possible recovery.

Because children are still growing and developing, recovery involves more than physical healing. Cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and educational needs may also require close attention.

In this video, I explain what parents should know about a child's medical recovery.

Your Uber app has a receipt for that ride. Most people glance at it once and move on.

That receipt, the one with the timestamps, the driver's name, and the route map, can establish whether the $1 million coverage tier or the $50,000-per-person tier applies to your claim. Those aren't close numbers. The difference turns on a single moment: whether the driver had accepted your ride when the crash happened. In Missouri and Kansas, ride acceptance is the legal line between the two tiers.

What I see in these cases is that the insurer's first move is often to contest exactly that moment. They pull app logs and GPS records to argue the crash landed in the lower window. Your screenshot of that receipt, saved the same day, can be the contemporaneous record that pushes back.

The earlier in the case, the more options you have. Call us: 816-795-7500.
