I am thrilled to share a momentous development at Blocker Law, PLLC. As of now, our office will be closed on Fridays, symbolizing a new chapter in our journey. Rest assured that we will continue to shine by responding to emergencies and periodically monitoring voicemails. This transformation is driven by my personal quest to spend precious time with my oldest son, who will be embarking on his senior year. I have always prioritized my work, often at the expense of family time, and I am eager to seize the opportunity to make the most of the time we have left before he spreads his wings to pursue his dreams. I appreciate your understanding in this matter and am grateful for your unwavering support. Please note that while this will be our new standard operating schedule, there may be exceptions or instances where I am available to work, ensuring that our commitment to excellence remains unwavering.

Update from Blocker Law PLLC

We want to share that Erick will be transitioning from full-time employment with our firm to serve as an Assistant District Attorney. We are incredibly proud of him and excited to see him step into this important public service role.

Erick will continue to maintain a connection with Blocker Law in a limited “of counsel” capacity, focusing on select civil matters.

For clients Erick has been assisting, you will be receiving a letter soon outlining your options and next steps. Please know that your case remains important to us, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continued support.

As our firm evolves, we will be focusing our practice on criminal defense, personal injury, probate, civil litigation, construction litigation, and related matters. At this time, we are not accepting new family law cases.

It’s that time of year to fire up your heat pumps, and burn off any dust so guests don’t have to deal with the unpleasant odors. 🔥

When we perform seasonal maintenance, we go beyond the basics:

🩷 We make sure thermostats are programmed correctly so you’re not stuck running on electric heat only. This also ensures you can switch to emergency heat in an emergency. Several cabins in the snow storm unfortunately went without heat because their thermostats weren’t programmed correctly.
🩵 We check that all wires are secured at the contactor to prevent overheating or melting. This is the #1 fire hazard we prevent.
🩷 We test the defrost cycle to ensure it’s operating properly before the cold weather sets in. Without defrost cycle your heat pump will become an ice ball.

Rural life is cherished by many, but it is difficult to attract young people back from their early adventures, which makes it special when someone as smart, talented, and hardworking as Erick Morales returns home. Erick knew he wanted to be a lawyer from a young age and rose to the challenge at every step. McCurtain County educated and helped develop the talented lawyer and man he is today. While I am a newcomer and finally feel like I have found my home, Erick has always had that feeling. Erick has interned or worked with us since the summer of 2023. He has more courtroom experience than a large percentage of lawyers much older. Erick embodies and lives our core value of running a client-centered practice. He is well-spoken and a fierce advocate with command of the evidence code better than most attorneys I know. The fact that he is bilingual in English and Spanish helps us assist another whole community within our own community. I am honored that he is part of our team.

Each week for the next few weeks, we are going to highlight a member of our team who supports us.

Naturally, I must start with Lynn, because she has supported me since the thought of becoming a lawyer. She supported the idea without hesitation and has been my rock for 20 years.

Lynn is officially our business manager, but at home, she also manages three boys and keeps me in line.

Lynn wholeheartedly believes in the mission of delivering a client-centered practice and providing quality legal services to rural communities.

Lynn loves the outdoors and is proud to call Broken Bow her home.

Growing up on a Nebraska farm certainly helped develop her drive and hard work ethic. We are blessed to have her on the team, and I am blessed to have her in my life.

Feel free to call her Lynnie Lou when you see her!

We never doubted and knew this was always a reality, even when he was nervous, and the team here is excited to congratulate Erick Morales on passing the bar exam. He will serve all of our clients well and embodies our motto “a client centered practice.” Erick passed with a score high enough to practice law in any state the UBE is tested in. He is a special young man and has been working with us for a year now. He has never complained about long hours and wants to serve his clients well. He will be a great lawyer and we are proud to call him part of our team. Erick is also from Idabel and bilingual in English and Spanish, and with him and our new assistant upfront (his mother) we look forward to being better abled to serve our Spanish speaking population.

Hard to believe it has been just over a year since we started on the Blocker Law, PLLC journey. The best thing my family did was move to McCurtain County. We love it here. The scenery is amazing and reminds us so much of where my 2 oldest were born in Montana. The majority of people I deal with are real salt of the earth and hard working folks, which makes me know I am home. We have already made friends that we enjoy to be around. The community has welcomed my family and my practice with open arms. I truly believe the words Client Centered Practice, and have an awesome staff that also believes those words with every fiber of their being. Looking forward to many more years, and very excited for Eric Morales to get that bar exam out of the way and join me back in his hometown.
