¿Qué hacer si te detienen agentes de migración o la policía? 🚨

Si estás en un parque o cualquier lugar y se te acercan agentes de migración o la policía, recuerda estos pasos clave:

1️⃣ Pregunta si puedes marcharte. Si te dicen que sí, aléjate calmadamente.
2️⃣Si quieres quédese en silencio, dígaselo al oficial en voz alta. En Maryland, no estás
obligado legalmente a dar su nombre si se le pide que se identifique
(aunque algunos estados sí lo exigen).
No mientas. Responde con tu nombre verdadero si te lo piden.
3️⃣ Mantén tu derecho a guardar silencio. Solo di: “Quiero hablar con un abogado”.
4️⃣ No firmes nada. No firmes documentos sin antes consultar a un abogado.

FB friends, I know you are busy enjoying summer but if you live in Prince George’s County, there a Special Election for Prince George's County Council Member at Large seat currently going on. You can still vote today until 6 p.m. and on Monday August 5, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and on-election day August 6 from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Also, check your mailbox because you may have received your ballot in the mail. It literally takes a few minutes to open, fill out and seal the envelope. After it’s sealed just drop it off at one of the ballot drop off locations. Please see below for places where you can go Vote and/or drop off you ballot!

Now, that I have shared with you on where to vote, please consider voting for JOLENE IVEY. JOLENE IVEY brings experience and knowledge of how the county government is run and has been an effective leader as the current Chair of the County Council. There are a lot of pertinent issues from public safety to taxes that need a long-term solution and she is the best person to be able to continue working on such matters. Additionally, as our county becomes more culturally diverse, I trust her to continue building bridges amongst the different communities in order to move our county forward. So go vote and Vote for JOLENE IVEY!
