As protests continue on campus, Ohio State students are being urged to follow legal guidelines from Moritz College of Law to understand their rights and reduce the risk of arrest.

So far, four protests have taken place on campus this semester. The majority focused on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement increasing its crackdown on immigration and one condemned Ohio State’s refusal of removing Les Wexner’s name on campus.

At one protest in January, two students were arrested at a demonstration opposing the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s presence at the College of Arts and Sciences Career Fair, per prior Lantern reporting.

In remarks to the House of Delegates at the 2026 ABA Midyear Meeting in San Antonio, President Michelle A. Behnke stood firm on the ABA’s commitment to the rule of law, diversity and inclusion, and protecting the judiciary.

“We cannot give up on our beliefs, our core values and our mission,” she said. “The American Bar Association will continue to use its position to advocate for the legal profession and the judiciary. We will fight for the rule of law both at home and around the world. And we will not abandon our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Wisconsin’s Court of Appeals operates mostly behind the scenes. Its elections are drawing growing attention and money.

Recent races in the Waukesha-based District 2 have topped $1 million in spending, reflecting increasingly intense competition between conservative and liberal interests in the Milwaukee suburbs.

The latest race to replace Presiding Judge Lisa Neubauer shifted in January when candidate Christine Hansen was disqualified after her husband notarized her declaration of candidacy, which violates state law. Barring a write-in campaign, attorney Anthony LoCoco is expected to run unopposed in the officially nonpartisan April 7 election.

The moment underscores how even lower-profile judicial races are becoming more expensive and more closely watched.
