Our client trusted their word for decades, then was told the painting wasn’t authentic.
Aaron Heckaman has filed a lawsuit against Sotheby’s on behalf of a prominent Houston art collector over a painting he purchased through the auction house more than two decades ago.
According to the lawsuit, our client purchased Tulips, represented as an authentic work by artist Kees van Dongen, during a Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern Art auction. Our client alleges that, more than 20 years later, Sotheby’s informed him that the artwork was not authentic.
The lawsuit asserts claims including breach of contract, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, fraudulent inducement, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment.
B*H is ready to represent our client as he seeks accountability and damages through the legal process.
