Harvey Weinstein’s conviction was overturned. Now he’s been sentenced to another 15 YEARS in prison.

Here’s how we got here:

Weinstein was originally convicted in New York in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years.

In 2024, New York’s highest court overturned that conviction after finding errors in how the original trial was handled.

But an overturned conviction doesn’t necessarily mean you’re cleared of the charges.

Prosecutors tried the case again, and Weinstein was convicted again of sexually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.

Now, a New York judge has sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

And his legal battles still aren’t finished. Weinstein says he plans to appeal, and he also has a separate California r**e conviction.

This is a perfect example of how complicated the appeals process can be:

A conviction can be overturned, a defendant can be retried, and they can still end up right back in front of a judge for sentencing.

Can Trump kick a news outlet out of the White House because he doesn’t like their coverage?

That question is now playing out in federal court.

President Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House grounds after accusing the outlets of reporting “fake news.” Their reporters had their White House credentials revoked or disabled.

The three news organizations sued the Trump administration, arguing that the government cannot take away their access because it disagrees with their reporting. They say the ban violates their First Amendment rights and that they weren’t given proper notice or an opportunity to challenge the decision.

The Trump administration argues that access to the White House is a privilege, not a right, and says the President has authority to restrict access. The administration has also raised national-security concerns about some of the outlets’ reporting.

Now it’s in the hands of a federal judge.

At a hearing on September 23, the judge questioned whether the administration followed existing legal precedent when it revoked the outlets’ access. He has not yet issued a final ruling on their request to temporarily lift the ban.

So the bigger legal question is:

How much control does a President have over who gets access to the White House and when does that collide with freedom of the press?

This is definitely one to watch.

Parents, you may want to pay attention to what just happened with TikTok in Texas.

TikTok told parents that its safety features—including “Restricted Mode” could help limit the inappropriate content children were exposed to.

But according to a Texas court, those protections didn’t work the way TikTok represented them.

The court found TikTok liable for misleading consumers about its safety standards after evidence showed minors could still access inappropriate and explicit content, including videos involving nudity, drugs, alcohol, injuries and profanity even with Restricted Mode turned on.

In simple terms: Parents were told there was a safety feature protecting their kids, but kids could still get to the content the feature was supposed to restrict.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued TikTok over it, and a judge has now ruled against TikTok on liability.

And this case isn’t over.

The next phase will determine what penalties or other relief TikTok could face.

For parents, the bigger takeaway is this: Don’t assume turning on a safety setting means an app is doing everything you think it’s doing. Know what your kids are actually seeing online.
