Celebrating 2.5 years in business this September 1st. Starting a firm brings unimaginable pressure, very late nights, and a lot of doubt and uncertainty. The payoff of pushing through the hard seasons is huge, however. This past month, we’ve witnessed our hard work translate into real impact.

We prevented the City of Houston from dismissing our client’s lawsuit. On a different case, we blocked a defendant from designating a responsible third party (which would have allowed him to shift some of the blame). We also made two insurance companies provide coverage after their repeated attempts to avoid acknowledging the existence of a claim triggering their involvement. Finally, we resolved a case for 4X the initial offer after initiating a lawsuit.

I have been in court hearings multiple times per week for about one month now. Before then, hours of research and motion drafting took place. Moving a client’s case towards a favorable resolution involves a lot of hard work, but the “wins” along the way add value and posture the case for resolution. We work our cases up and invest the time necessary to ensure our clients are taken care of.

Call me if anyone is ever injured.
🙏

Can your mindset truly affect your life? I thought it could, but very minimally. Then, I spent four months working with my dad and finally understood the power of a positive mindset.

After the C word became part of his life, everything drastically changed. He could no longer work in refineries (or anywhere, really), he spent a lot of his time in the hospital/chemo/doctor visits, his plans for life after retirement were destroyed, he required a lot of assistance—sometimes, with basic everyday activities, etc. Nonetheless, his faith was stronger than ever and he radiated positivity all the time. He started working at the firm because he said if the cancer didn’t kill him, being home doing nothing would. He’s always asking me for more projects and to teach him new ways to help the firm. Every morning, after he drinks a cup of coffee he tells me, “I woke up feeling like a champion!”

After the first round of immunotherapy and chemo (about three months of treatment) his imaging revealed “remarkable results” (quoting his team). By the way, he received chemo (every other week) and returned to the firm just three days later.

Friday, he underwent an eight hour surgery. EIGHT hours. His team made two incisions to remove the cancerous tumor from his esophagus and stomach. The surgeon says he couldn’t have asked for better results. He also told us dad was cracking jokes until the anesthesia knocked him out.

Although I was a skeptic, now I believe in the power of positivity. Of course, there are many factors and circumstances that affect our lives and situations, but remember, you CAN control your mindset, and that alone can change everything.

Next up, months of recovery then another round of immunotherapy and chemo. Thanks to everyone who has prayed for us the past months.

When it comes to soccer, Mexico is our team. 🇲🇽(He picks all other teams we cheer for.) This is a hill I was willing to die on.

El Tri Color has been my team since I was in diapers, so don’t even come for me. I’m not the one.🤘🏽👊🏽

💔Infertility & the Workplace.

👩🏽‍⚖️What can infertility look like for attorneys?

Aside from being on a hormonal treatment plan that interferes with your body and mind…

It looks like a sweaty lawyer who needs to excuse herself twice from a deposition due to hot flashes (she left to sit on the restroom’s cold tile while she patted her face with a cold, wet paper towel).

It looks like an extra tired attorney who had to get up at 3AM to take an oatmeal bath to stop her EXTRA EXTRA dry skin from itching.

It look like a lawyer who appears to have ignored the Judge’s rules, requiring all litigants to wear a blazer… but really, she’s not insubordinate/sloppy/lazy—maybe she is too hot to wear most of her professional clothes/ is having a hot flash. Also, maybe she is not wearing make up because she’s constantly applying her self-made face ointment to soothe the pain caused by cracking skin. (Thanks AI for being there at 2AM to walk me through the recipe).

It loos like a “vain” attorney, constantly reapplying make up throughout the day. But, maybe she’s having a “good face day” (but needs to reapply make up after a sweaty hot flash episode).

Oatmeal baths bring a good amount of comfort. The ointment was only ok.

Me? I am ok, faithful and hopeful!

I just hope someone who never even thought about this reads my post.
