Did you read about this new law? Every business owner now needs to prepare to file a business owner information report.

•Existing companies: Must file by January 1. 2025.

•Newly created or registered companies: Have 90 days to file after receiving actual or public notice registration is effective.

This is a great law being enforced by the U.S. Treasury FinCEN division. It will help safeguard the financial system, combat pyramid schemes, money laundering and other related crimes.

This week the City of Houston’s Civil Service, Police & Fire Fighters Commission had the opportunity to hold our first in-person hearing of our terms. It was great to finally come off camera and share the same room with my colleagues.

Over the last year and half, it’s been a privilege to serve alongside Commissioners Grivich and Lermon. Also, as a practicing attorney, serving in this judicial role I have gained a greater respect for the work and commitment our elected (or appointed) state and federal judges give on a daily basis.

If you’re interested in alternative ways to become a public servant or participate in government, I encourage you to go online and research the Mayor’s Office of Board and Commissions, and get involved in the process.
