Coronavirus Outbreak and the IRS Tax Return Filing Deadline in 2020

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special tax filing and payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The filing deadline for tax returns has been extended from April 15 to July 15, 2020.

The sooner you file your tax return, the sooner you’ll receive any refund due. The IRS started accepting 2019 tax returns on January 27, 2020.

If you have a federal tax refund coming, you could get your money back in as little as three weeks. In the past, the IRS has issued over 90% of refunds in less than 21 days. If you want to speed up the refund process, e-file your 2019 tax return and select the direct deposit payment method. That’s the fastest way. Paper returns and checks slow things down considerable.

INCOME TAX BRACKETS & TAX RATES
For 2019 tax returns, there are still seven (7) tax rates. They are: 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35% and 37%.

Sorry, the IRS did not give taxpayers a break on the federal income tax rates.
