Marriage to a U.S. citizen doesn't automatically guarantee citizenship or a green card. While marriage is a common path to lawful status, today’s process requires much more than just filing paperwork. To get an approved petition that leads to a green card, you must prove to immigration authorities that your marriage is bona fide—meaning real and genuine: Photos Together: Documenting your relationship history over time. Letters of Support: Affidavits from friends and family who know you as a couple. Shared Life Proof: Clear evidence showing a joint life together. Without strong evidence proving a real marriage, petitions can be delayed or denied.

Speak with an experienced immigration attorney to ensure your green card application is thoroughly prepared and backed by solid proof.

Immigration policies can shift quickly, often without a new law being passed by Congress. Understanding how executive actions work is key to protecting your legal status and knowing your rights.

Executive actions are directives issued directly by the President to manage federal agencies like USCIS, ICE, and the Department of State. While they cannot create new laws, they heavily shape how current laws are enforced:

Enforcement Priorities: Directives can shift focus toward specific deportation protocols or adjust court processing timelines.

Benefit Processing: Actions can impact work permit speeds, visa backlogs, and eligibility requirements for legal relief.

Policy Shifts: Guidelines can suddenly open—or limit—humanitarian programs and border processing rules.

Because executive actions can take effect rapidly, staying informed and working with an experienced immigration attorney ensures you are always prepared for policy updates📞 Call for a free consultation! 713-932-1111

One of the most dangerous myths about immigration law is that it’s "just filling out forms"—nothing could be further from the truth. U.S. immigration law is complex and detailed. Winning your case requires strategically connecting many legal pieces to build a complete, convincing argument: More Than Paperwork: Missing critical details or filing incomplete forms can lead to severe delays or denials. Building a Case: Every situation requires specific legal evidence tailored to prove your eligibility under federal law. Protecting Your Family: Navigating the system with experienced legal guidance ensures your rights—and your family’s future—are protected. An asylum denial can feel overwhelming, but it is not an immediate end to your journey or an automatic deportation order. Depending on your circumstances, your case may be referred to immigration court, or other legal options may be available. Here is what happens next:1️⃣ Referral to Immigration Court: If you filed an affirmative application with USCIS without valid status, a denial typically results in a Notice to Appear (NTA). This transfers your case to an Immigration Judge, giving you a fresh opportunity to present your defense.2️⃣ Right to Appeal: If an Immigration Judge denies your defensive asylum claim, you generally have 30 days to file an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), with potential further appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals.3️⃣ Alternative Legal Protections: You may still qualify for other forms of relief, including:• Withholding of Removal• Protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT)• Family-Based Petitions or Humanitarian Visas (U/T Visas, TPS)• A Motion to Reopen based on new evidence or changed country conditionsDon't navigate this process alone—know your options and protect your rights.📞 Call for a free consultation: 713-932-1111🌐 Website: https://moftahlawfirm.pulse.ly/yhlgeofixb

When applying for a green card, proving you can support yourself financially in the U.S. is a key requirement. USCIS evaluates applications to ensure applicants won't become a "public charge" on the system. Demonstrating financial stability makes the green card process much smoother: Financial Stability: USCIS wants to see that you can live comfortably and earn a sufficient income in the U.S. Government Assistance: Relying on certain public benefits can impact your eligibility and complicate your application. Easier Approval: Showing strong proof of self-sufficiency helps strengthen your overall petition. Navigating public charge rules and financial requirements can be tricky. Reach out to an immigration attorney to ensure your green card application meets all necessary criteria!

A denial from USCIS or an immigration judge isn't always the end of the road. You may have the right to file an immigration appeal to fight the decision and keep your case moving forward.

An appeal asks a higher authority to review a denied application, petition, or deportation order to determine if errors were made:

Higher Authority Review: Cases are reviewed by entities like the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) or the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO).

Strict Deadlines: Most appeals must be filed within a tight window—often just 30 days from the date of the decision.

Legal Strategy: Winning an appeal requires proving that the judge or officer made legal or factual mistakes in their ruling.

If your application or petition was denied, act immediately. Consult an experienced immigration attorney right away to review your options and protect your right to appeal!

Having a job offer doesn't mean you can legally work in the United States. Neither does having a Social Security number or an ITIN.

If you're employed by someone else, you need a work permit, and that means filing Form I-765. The form has to be the most current version, and it has to use the correct eligibility category to show the government why you qualify.

A lot of people come to us after their I-765 was denied, and the reason is often as simple as using the wrong version of the form.

If you want it filed right the first time, talk to an immigration attorney before you submit anything.

If ICE stops your car and you're not a US citizen or a legal permanent resident, what you do in the next few minutes matters.

Pull over safely. Turn off the car. Wait for the officer to approach you, and have your ID ready to show. Stay courteous the whole time, there's no reason to escalate anything in that moment.

Once the encounter is over, call an immigration attorney. They can walk you through exactly what comes next for your case.
