Old dog learning.
Hope this finds you, your friends and family doing well and staying safe in this crazy time. This old dog has, in fact, been learning some new tricks. Given the stay in place orders We have been offering our mediation services via Zoom. So far (knock on wood) they have been going great. I really expected most clients would cancel but that has not been the case.
It took me a short while to get my bugs worked out but now I've got the program down. I can handle large group opening sessions where needed. Screen sharing is available for those who wish to present power-points and the like. I can then place the parties, attorneys and adjusters into separate private "rooms" for caucusing and move between them just as if it were in my offices. It can feel a bit clunky but it's definitely workable and we have been very successful in obtaining settlements. While I continue to prefer face to face, really, my only issue with Zoom is that I get sick of watching myself while I am talking. It's kind of disconcerting. We have also conducted a few in office mediations for those who still prefer. We carefully maintain our social distance and avoid shaking hands. Pat is even refraining from hugs. I have to admit that I have enjoyed the opportunity to see and talk with actual live folks. The break from watching myself is also welcome.
Come see use (one way or another). Peace to you all. Stay safe and healthy!
Tanner
