🚨 FACT CHECK: Child Support & Taxes 🚨
There is NO new law that automatically allows the parent paying child support to claim the child on their taxes. ❌
✅ By default, the custodial parent (the one the child lives with most of the time) gets to claim the child.
✅ The noncustodial parent can only claim the child if the custodial parent signs **IRS Form 8332** to release the exemption.
✅ Child support payments are NOT tax-deductible for the payer and **are NOT taxable income** for the recipient.
