We've filed the first lawsuit in the nation against Taco Bell and Taylor Farms over the 2026 cyclospora outbreak, on behalf of David Ott, who gave 27 years to the U.S. Army. This summer, a meal at a Taco Bell in Ohio put him in the hospital with a parasite infection.
He spent two days hospitalized and was treated with the antibiotic Bactrim before a lab confirmed it was cyclospora, a parasite that can leave people sick for weeks. We brought his case on July 17 in Mahoning County, Ohio, alongside our co-counsel at DiCello Levitt.
David isn't alone. The CDC has linked a five-state outbreak (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia) to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell. More than 1,644 people have gotten sick and 94 have been hospitalized, part of a national surge of nearly 7,000 illnesses across 34 states. Taylor Farms is named in our lawsuit as the supplier and has been reported as the source by CNN, the Washington Post, and CBS.
We now represent hundreds of people in this outbreak which only continues to grow.
