The water at Marine/Navy base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina was contaminated with toxic chemicals for three decades. The Camp Lejeune Act opens the way for those veterans and their families injured by it to sue for compensation. There have been a few news stores and more than a few advertisements about the Act. This article discusses what the Act does (opens the government to lawsuits in a small window of time) and what it doesn't do (no slush fund), and more importantly, how those lawsuits are likely to go and what it is likely to take to bring a successful lawsuit. Please read and share with anyone you know affected.

It has been one of the great honors of my career to represent one of the victims of this mass shooting, who survived,. The government convicted the shooter of multiple offenses while he was in the Air Force that should have put him on the NICS database so he could not buy guns legally, and should have reported his crimes to local authorities who would have treated him very differently in later years had they known how dangerous he was.

this is a large verdict, spread over many families impacted by the largest mass shooting in Texas history, by someone the Air Force imprisoned and kicked out, then barred from all military bases.

I am proud to have worked with a great group of attorneys, and to have taken witnesses at deposition and trial.

the verdict is still subject to appeal, but after four years and two trials, we hope the government finally does the right thing and pays the verdict

More than two dozen people were killed in the 2017 mass shooting. The Air Force failed to submit the shooter's assault conviction into a national database.

More than 30 witnesses testified in the past week and a half as a federal judge works out how much the government owes survivors and families affected by the rampage.

TODAY: In a trial victory on behalf of survivors and families of the Sutherland Springs church shooting, a federal court found the U.S. Government to be 60% liable for failing to provide the shooter’s domestic violence convictions to the FBI. Joe Schreiber and Erik Knockaert fought tooth and nail, together with the other victims' attorneys, to hold the Air Force accountable for their negligence. This is a major victory in the fight for justice against the U.S. Government.

A federal judge has found the U.S. Air Force 60% responsible for the Sutherland Springs attack for failing to send the shooter's felony conviction to the FBI background check database.

There has been a lot of talk lately about abolishing qualified immunity for police officers as a solution to excessive force.
We wrote an article arguing that simply abolishing qualified immunity is not an adequate solution, discuss the doctrine, and offer solutions. It is a longer read, but we think worth it.
