You will always have a special place in my heart.

I love a good mocktail, and the peach white tea was *chef’s kiss* SO GOOD! There were seven courses on the tasting menu, but I think more than 12 plates came out. After the fancy egg thing, we had a variety of seafood to start, the tastiest and fluffiest cornbread I have ever experienced, and a collard green ravioli with smoked chanterelle mushrooms. Yes, savory southern collard greens tucked into a pasta.

The smoked chanterelle mushrooms should have their own reality TV show. Sure, they balanced the ravioli, but they were the most surprising part of my entire meal. They were layered with mysterious hints of smoke complimented by the earthy shadows of whatever forest they came from. The ravioli and mushrooms were married with a luxurious sauce that took my taste buds on a whole vacation.

There was a fish dish and a steak before FOUR desserts were brought out. I’m truly sorry I don’t have photos of each course.

Fancy desserts might be my favorite thing ever. There was a peach daiquiri sorbet thing with coconut and lime foam. It served as a palate cleanser before the star of the show…

The 🤩trio🤩 of pecan desserts included 1) a cane syrup crème brûlée, 2) a pecan butter popsicle with a chocolate magic shell, and 3) a cream puff with cane syrup whipped cream and pecan pie filling!

In 2019, I read “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel
Hollis and it changed me. {if you’ve read it, Chapter 7, am I right?}

One piece of advice she offers is to practice gratitude daily. Not just general thankfulness, but specific instances that make you stop and appreciate life.

A hot cup of coffee with a view…

The laugh from your kid when they tell a joke…

Wispy clouds caught in a sunset photo…

I might have thousands of sunsets in my camera roll, but each one caught my attention and I found gratitude in that moment.

Traffic Stop for Air Freshener? Is that even legal?

🌲We have successfully defended felony charges and obtained dismissals for improper stops. The system isn’t always fair, but there is hope.

At least one judge in Houma decided this law concerning obstruction to driver’s view does NOT apply to the air freshener hanging from the mirror.

§282. Obstruction to driver's view or driving mechanism
A. No person shall drive a vehicle when it is so loaded, or when there are in the front seat such a number of persons, exceeding three, as to obstruct the view of the driver to the front sides or rear of the vehicle or as to interfere with the driver's control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle.
B. No passenger in a vehicle shall ride in such a position as to interfere with the view of the driver to the front, sides or rear of the vehicle or to interfere with his control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle.
C. No person shall drive any vehicle with any nontransparent material upon the windshield, side wings, side or rear windows, other than a certificate or other paper required to be so displayed by law, or permitted by regulation of the secretary of public safety.

Dear Houma, Gibson and all surrounding areas,

Almost ten years of saying, “I don’t drink.”

Looking through these pictures reminds me of the fun and unforgettable memories I created during my twenties. But I also remember the darker moments—the times I threw up in a cab, on the curb, in my truck, or in someone else's vehicle. I didn’t document the shame of showing up hungover and disheveled to court or the selfies I’d never take while hugging a trash can or a toilet.

I certainly wouldn’t post a photo of myself driving under the influence. That would be reckless.

The truth is, many of us have driven home when we shouldn’t have. By some miracle, I always made it home safely.

On December 8, 2016, I drove home when I shouldn’t have, and that was the last time. I’m forever grateful to the person in my life who brought it to my attention. After that conversation, I made the conscious decision to stop taking that risk.

The reality is that DWI isn't just a personal issue; it devastates families and communities. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones in DWI-related accidents. The pain and loss are immense, and it’s a tragedy that touches far too many lives.

I want everyone to know that I’m here to help. For those navigating the court system or seeking rehabilitation, my experience as a criminal defense attorney allows me to guide you through this challenging process. You don’t have to face it alone; there are paths to healing and accountability.
