On January 31, 2022, Colleen Williamson and Benjamin Winkelman will be leaving Parker, Winkelman & Parker, P.S. Colleen is going to enjoy her time out of the office starting her well-deserved retirement and we all wish her well and will vicariously be vacationing with her. (Don’t forget us Colleen. LOL.) Ben will commence his own practice Winkelman Law Firm located just down the street at 201 8th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550. We will be changing our firm name to Parker & Parker Law Offices, Inc. P.S. It is taking us some time to notify the clients served over the 20 years since Ben started working here. If you haven’t heard from us personally and Ben was your attorney or primarily provided legal services for you please call us at (360) 532-5780 or email [email protected] so we may confirm your contact information and timely move your files with Ben in the coming weeks. All original documents will remain secure and safe during this transition. Both Parker & Parker Law Offices, Inc. P.S. and Winkelman Law Firm Inc. will continue offering a vast array of legal services and intend to maintain the professional relationships molded while we worked together over the last 20 years.

Parker, Winkelman & Parker continues working for our clients to help them maneuver through challenging times in 2020. After spending time in the office assisting business clients tonight, I took a stroll down the riverside and took this picture of the office from the 8th Street Landing. Please call us to schedule appointments via phone, Zoom or limited appointments in the office with covid-19 restrictions and precautions in place. We are here for you.

To our valued Clients and Friends,
As we all face the uncertainty of the Coronavirus, we extend our thoughts and prayers to those who have been personally affected by this pandemic. During this critical period, it is incumbent on each of us to take care of each other to ensure the health and safety of our families, friends, colleagues and communities.
As we continue to follow the developing stories and learn more about the COVID-19 virus, we wanted to personally assure you that we remain committed and dedicated to providing you with the highest level of legal services during these uncertain times.
As of now, our office is discouraging in-person meetings unless they are essential to the progress of your case. We are offering alternate meeting methods including video and telephone conferencing. Utilizing these methods, we will still be able to handle all case related activities seamlessly including new client consultations, client meetings and phone calls, discovery conferences and client disbursements. We have furloughed our staff in order to protect them from potential illness however we have robust technology in place to securely access our client files from home and will continue working on your case with the same level of professionalism and with the highest standards you deserve.
On March 18, the Washington Supreme Court issued its emergency order regarding the COVID-19 State of Disaster, empowering Washington Courts to modify or suspend certain deadlines and procedures, allow parties to participate remotely in proceedings, and take other reasonable steps to avoid exposing court proceedings to the threat of the coronavirus. As a result, Courts throughout Washington are issuing orders to adjust their schedule in response to the current health crisis. For example, the Grays Harbor Superior Court has suspended most civil motions and jury trials until at least May 6. In addition, we are monitoring court specific orders and policies that may apply to your specific case and will keep you apprised should these deadlines affect the progress of your case. As always, in the interim, we will continue to vigorously represent your interest while adhering to the Courts’ mandates.
We wish your families continued safety and good health and urge you to take the precautionary measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and create plans for your own families.
As always, please feel reach out to any member of our team should you have any case specific questions or concerns. We monitor our phone messages, email and regular mail daily. Wishing you good health,
Jon Parker [email protected]

A YOUNG LADY GIVES THANKS TO HER PARENTS FOR HOW THEY HANDLED A DIVORCE WHEN SHE WAS A YOUNG CHILD:

My parents divorced when I was very young. When I tell people that many will say, I’m so sorry. However I’m really not. You can say, well __________ are you saying you encourage divorce? No it’s not that. It’s just as an adult I can see all I gained from the divorce. I know it was at times probably very hard on my parents and maybe me too, but I’m grateful for it now.⠀

What did I gain?⠀

I gained independence. I gained experience living in two worlds. But the most important gain? More family. Two sisters, two brothers, a stepmom, a stepdad, aunts, uncles and cousins. Some people have one parent, I am blessed to have four. Now as an adult I realize how being surrounded by all this family, well it’s everything. It’s not perfect, but it’s beautiful. ⠀

My parents tried never to speak ill of the other. My mom always said that when people do that they don’t realize that the child feels like they are talking about them. Parents please no matter how ugly your divorce is try to not talk bad about your ex in front of your child. Vent to your friends, family but not the child. ⠀

Today is my stepmom's birthday. She is strong, capable, kind and has blessed me beyond belief. She is very different than my mom, which is a beautiful thing to experience. My mom a city girl, my stepmom a cowgirl. ⠀

Everyone’s divorce story is different. I know mine is maybe unique and I try never to take it for granted. ⠀

If you are going through something hard and worry about the effect it will have on your child, well realize that a lot of the tough stuff, well it prepares your child for life. Because guess what? Life does not fit in a perfect little box with a bow.⠀

Try to be an example to your children, don’t gossip, be patient with your ex even when they don’t deserve it, and give yourself grace. I mean that should be our daily goal no matter what the circumstances right?⠀

So today I thank my parents for all they did. I thank them for dealing with the sacrifice of divorce. They have given me the best gifts.⠀

And of course, Happy Birthday to my dear stepmom. We love you.
