After more than six years of research, Peruvian filmmaker Italo Lorenzzi Bolaños succeeded in creating this documentary that tells the story of Major García Rojas, an outstanding officer who participated in the Alto Cenepa Conflict, the last international armed conflict of the 20th century between two South American countries, Peru and Ecuador (1995). But the feature film also tells the story of the determination and tenacity of Peruvian lawyer Dra. Julia Panta Quevedo, wife of Major García Rojas, who fought against the political system of her country for many years for the recognition of her husband's heroic action. Dr. Panta has even earned the respect of Ecuadorian military and historians.
In the Alto Cenepa, the then Captain Garcia Rojas, a Peruvian Army pilot and expert in the area of operations, volunteered to lead the air squadron formed by two MI-8T helicopters of the Ejército del Perú and two MI-25 of the Fuerza Aérea del Perú, in order to provide air fire support in the conflict zone, taking into consideration the difficult geography, the exuberant vegetation and the adverse weather conditions. On the afternoon of January 29, 1995, he set out to fly what would be his last mission. When he was carrying out this courageous action, his aircraft, the MI-8T EP 547 helicopter, was hit by a missile coming from one of the enemy combat posts, exploding in mid-flight and ending the life of the heroic pilot in command and his crew, but opening an eternal chapter in the history of Peru.
