A little reminder: you can have a plan and still leave room for the unexpected. Some of life’s best moments are the ones you never saw coming. 💛

Steve Jobs knew how to build wealth. But what happened to that wealth after him is the part worth paying attention to. 👀

When he died in 2011, he left behind an estimated $7 billion fortune—and trusts were already part of the family’s planning.

That matters because building wealth is only half the story. How assets are owned, transferred, protected, and eventually passed to the next generation can make an enormous difference.

And estate planning strategies aren’t only for billionaires.

You don’t need $7 billion to have something worth protecting. You just need a plan for what you’ve built.

Estate planning advice, but make it two spritzes deep. 🍹

Some of these might sound a little blunt, but the right plan can protect your family, make your wishes clear, and save the people you love from having to figure everything out later.

The key? Don’t just have estate planning documents. Have a plan that actually works.

Save this for the estate plan you’ve been meaning to handle. 💙

09/02/2026

If you’re the one paying the bills, managing the accounts, and keeping everything running… this one’s for you.

Everyone knows you earn it and you handle it.

But does anyone know how to handle it without you? Can anyone in your family earn the same like you?

That’s the part we don’t like thinking about—but it’s exactly why an estate plan matters.

Don’t just be the person who takes care of everything.

Be the person who planned for everything, too. 💙

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. 💙

Life insurance and estate planning may serve different purposes, but they can work together as part of a broader plan for your family.

Life insurance can help provide financial support after a death.

Estate planning can help provide legal direction around things like who can act for you, how certain assets are managed, and what should happen next.

The goal isn’t just to have a policy or a set of documents.

It’s to make sure the pieces of your plan actually work together.

Protecting your family often takes more than one tool.

A new month is a good excuse to check whether your estate plan still matches your life.

Here’s what to actually look for:

1️⃣ Review your estate plan
Has anything changed since you signed it? Marriage, divorce, a new child, a new home, or changes in your finances may mean it’s time for a review.

2️⃣ Update your beneficiary designations
Check your life insurance, retirement accounts, and other accounts with named beneficiaries. These designations can affect who receives those assets, so make sure they still reflect your wishes.

3️⃣ Check your Trust funding
Having a Living Trust isn’t enough if the assets that should be connected to it never were. Review new accounts, property, and other assets you’ve acquired since creating your Trust.

4️⃣ Review your Powers of Attorney and healthcare directives
Ask yourself: Are these still the people I trust to make financial and healthcare decisions if I can’t?

You don’t need a major life event to check your estate plan. Sometimes a new month is enough of a reminder. 💙

Nobody wants to talk about what happens if the person who “handles everything” suddenly isn’t there. But that’s exactly why you should.

If your spouse manages the accounts, pays the bills, knows the passwords, tracks the investments, and handles the insurance… would you know what to do without them?

And vice versa?

This isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about making sure one person isn’t carrying all the information.

Talk about it. Write it down. Make sure your estate plan is in place.
Because your spouse will already have enough to deal with. Finding the money and figuring out your financial life shouldn’t be one of them. 💙

Here's what that "one document" actually is...

It's called a Revocable Living Trust.

A revocable living trust is designed to help your home transfer to your loved ones according to your wishes while potentially avoiding probate. But here's what many homeowners don't realize...

Signing the trust is only the first step.

For it to work the way it's intended, your home must also be properly transferred into the trust. That's what estate planning attorneys refer to as funding the trust.

Here's a simple breakdown of the process:

Step 1: Create your Revocable Living Trust
This legal document outlines how you want your home and other assets managed during your lifetime and distributed after your passing.

Step 2: Name your successor trustee and beneficiaries
Your successor trustee is the person who will carry out your instructions, while your beneficiaries are the people you've chosen to receive your assets.

Step 3: Transfer your home into the trust
A new deed is prepared to retitle your home from your individual name into the name of your trust. Without this step, the trust may not control the property.

Step 4: Sign and record the deed
Once the deed is signed, notarized, and recorded, your home is officially held by the trust.

Step 5: Continue living life as usual
You still own your home. You can live in it, refinance it, or sell it. The trust simply becomes part of your estate plan, ready to work when it's needed.

When your trust is properly created and funded, it can help your loved ones avoid unnecessary probate, maintain greater privacy, and experience a smoother transition.

A revocable living trust isn't just for wealthy families. It's a planning tool that can help homeowners protect what they've worked so hard to build.

Dolly Parton once said, “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are an excellent leader.”

And few people embodied that idea quite like she did.

Her legacy reaches far beyond the songs she recorded. Through her creative work, businesses, philanthropy, and the Imagination Library, she built something that continues to impact people beyond her lifetime.

Her words are also a beautiful reminder that legacy isn’t simply what you leave behind. It’s the impact you create while you’re here and what you intentionally set in motion to continue after you’re gone.

Rest in peace, Dolly. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations. 🤍
