The “sandwich” in Sandwich Generation has nothing to do with age and everything to do with being in the middle of two generations.

Homeownership in America is changing and growing. 🏡💙

Recent data reported by Inman shows that 19.2 million U.S. homeowner households are now headed by immigrants or children of immigrants, up from 13.9 million roughly two decades ago.

That growth highlights something important beyond the numbers: a home is often one of the biggest assets a family builds. And that makes estate planning an important part of the homeownership conversation—not just for immigrant families, but for every homeowner.

Buying the house determines where you live today. Your estate plan helps address what happens to that property when you can no longer manage it yourself or when you’re no longer here.

There are two very different questions parents should think about: Who would raise your children if you couldn’t? And who would manage the inheritance you leave for them?

Those roles don’t have to belong to the same person. And with proper planning, you can also set guidelines for how your children’s inheritance is managed and when they receive it.
