The Chief Justice of our State Supreme Court has issued an order cancelling all family court hearings through the end of April 2020, with certain exceptions for emergency matters including, but not limited to: DSS Emergency Protective Custody, Juvenile Detentions, Bench Warrants, and Emergency Petitions for Orders of Protection from Domestic Abuse. The Chief Justice reserves the right to shorten, lengthen or modify his order as conditions warrant and we will continue to update this page to reflect any changes.

Despite the temporary stay of court proceedings in family court, I want to assure you that our office is open for business. In addition, your ability to communication with our office shall remain unaffected by the suspension of family court hearings and the current social distancing recommendations and requirements.

We are available by phone and e-mail as always. However, to ensure maximum safety of your health, as well as ours, we are currently suspending in-person meetings. In lieu thereof, we have established a video conferencing capability on-line through Zoom. We implemented video conferencing last week on a trial basis and have found it to be highly effective. No special equipment is required for video conferencing. To request a video conference, please e-mail or call the office to set one up.

Our Website is currently off-line due to the failure of our web hosting service, InMotion Hosting, to adequately protect and backup our website. Our site apparently went down within the last 24 hours. We hope to have a temporary cover-page up within 24 hours and at least a partial reconstruction of the site by the end of the weekend.

We received the following e-mail from InMotion Hosting on December 10th: "Your account phippsfamilylaw.com has been moved to another server. Account moves usually do not result in any downtime for your site, as we leave your account active on the old server for up to 24 hours to allow for propagation. Please postpone changes until propagation completes."

Despite the aforesaid notification, all of our website content was lost. The reason for the move was that they needed to change servers because of a hardware failure.

We will keep you posted on the progress of rebuilding our website and regret any inconvenience it may cause.
