50 feels pretty great.
My family came into town to celebrate, and I know how busy everyone is, so it meant more than I can say that they made the time. My mom made her lasagna (she told me to stop telling people it’s the best ever… but I’m 50 now, so I can say whatever I want). It’s the best ever.
A wonderful friend opened her home so I could have a low-key, relaxed evening filled with easy conversation and a lot of laughter. Some of these friends I’ve known for decades, others just a couple of years, but every single one has added something meaningful to my life. I felt incredibly lucky to celebrate with such a great group of people.
My sister made a double chocolate cake and decorated it with heart shaped gummies, which was a hit. My niece and nephew were so excited to go home with some balloons, and Evan happily hung out with the adults (it blows my mind that in six months he will officially be one!).
I was thoroughly spoiled with some great gifts that I’m already enjoying. Plus, enough wine to properly welcome a new decade. My ride-or-die BFF even had flowers delivered, which brightened my day even more.
Grateful for family. Grateful for friends. Grateful for another year.
