With great pride, we share that Deborah Chang will be inducted into the CAALA Hall of Fame, a rare and enduring honor reserved for those who have not only practiced at the highest level, but reshaped what the law can do.

For decades, Deborah has helped define the moral spine of the plaintiff’s bar in Los Angeles, securing landmark verdicts, setting new precedent, and leading coalitions for change. Through it all, she has remained grounded in the principle that drives Chang | Klein: We Turn Cases Into Causes.

On March 12 at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, she will be honored among a remarkable few. Congratulations, Deborah.

On Tuesday, January 13, Chang | Klein delivered opening statements in Phoenix in the first bellwether trial in the federal Uber Passenger Sexual Assault MDL, arising from the alleged r**e of Jaylynn Dean. The case is one, of what will be many, nationwide litigation cases alleging that Uber failed to implement and enforce adequate safety measures to protect passengers from sexual assault by drivers, despite years of reported incidents.

As the first case to reach a jury, this trial is expected to set precedent and shape what comes next for hundreds of similar cases across the country.

The courtroom itself marks a historic moment: the trial has been led entirely by women for both the plaintiff and the defense. Women have conducted every examination, presented every argument, and guided every pivotal moment in a case with national implications for corporate accountability and passenger safety.
