Finally my mastectomy has completely healed. After 7 months no more open or scabbed spots.
I haven’t posted in a while about my health. It has just been day to day… I’m finally weaned down to 10 mg of prednisone. Doc says he will start weaning me 1mg at a time starting the end of next month. I’m hoping to be off of it by the end of the summer. I’ll be going up to 150mg of Imuran the end of next month, so I’ll just have to see how the body reacts…
I’ve upped my oxygen to 4 Lt. and I’m not desatting as much walking around the house as long as I’m not carrying anything or bending over to pick anything up.
The hitch on the car broke last week when I was coming home from getting lab work done. Luckily the scooter didn’t fall off! It’s going to be two weeks before they can get the new hitch, so I’m home for the time being…

Wish I could do this. I’m lucky to be walking back and forth to the restroom right now. He does have a great app (that I paid for a year) it has daily videos for sedentary seniors. Stretching and chair exercises. I hope to start them soon as I adjust to my new medication. (It’s kicking my butt right now, but it says I should start feeling better within 12 weeks)

This past 3 weeks have been hard. All I can do is sit in my chair. I’m exhausted. Im finally down to 10 mg of prednisone a day. I’ll be on that for at least a month. This next week I double the Imuran that he started me on 3 weeks ago. I’ve just stopped the mepron (keeps me from getting pneumonia while I switch from prednisone to Imuran, the doctor was concerned about that). It’s truly been hell. I think (hope) it was the side effects of the mepron that has been so hard and I’ll start feeling better now that I’m done with it. Prednisone has given me a moon face (I don’t know how long that’s supposed to last). mepron has made my eyes swell (messed up my vision) and inner mouth swell. My internal temperature gauge has gone all crazy. Most of the time I’m on fire and a moist mess, unless I’m shivering… I’m looking forward to feeling better soon

July 2025 wt. 247 lbs. this morning, 296 lbs.
I gained about 20 pounds with the breast cancer drama. This past two months I’ve gained 5 lbs. a week on prednisone.
I’ve been eating garbage (sugar). I’ve been totally out of control, and I’m the one buying it!😳
I started logging my food again today on the Lose it app.
The prednisone side effects have done a number on me. Of course the biggest problem is it’s made me ravenous! Totally out of control with eating. My Diabetes is out of control (300-550 daily). I’m back on insulin trying to regulate it. Hot flashes are constant (cravings ice cream to cool down) I’m always damp… I have constant dry mouth, eyes are blurry and swollen, muscles are weak and I feel off balance, can’t sleep more than 15 minutes- 3hours (at best).
I started the weaning off the prednisone process yesterday. It will take at least a couple of months for my adrenal glands to start working again. My Doctor hopes this may have decreased the inflammation in my lungs in the tubes that attach my aveoli (tiny air sacks)in my lungs, so that this new drug will keep the swelling or inflammation down. Over time as my lungs regenerate he hopes they will rebuild with the tubes open. This will take 1-2 YEARS!…
New drug: Imuran
This stops bone marrow from making white cells. There will be nothing in my body to cause inflammation. My body won’t be able to fight off any bacteria, virus or fungus. Doctor hopes that with no inflammation, when my lungs regenerate they will have to make open tubes. It’s a great idea and I hope (desperately) that it works.
So, I’m going to be a fair weather friend. I can have friends and family visit out on my porch, in open air or I can meet you at a restaurant out on a patio. I have to stay out of the sun (this drug and sun will blister my skin).
Last little note, I fell yesterday and couldn’t for the life of me, get back up. We had to get the firemen here to lift my caboose up🤦‍♀️ so embarrassing! I Just have a very sore swollen knee, but I’m walking fine.

Oops I did it again. 40 pounds up since July. I think I did good at the start of last year, with the abnormal cells diagnoses (and lumpectomy). But the cancer diagnosis and mastectomy turned on my need to comfort my inner self. I gained 20 pounds then and now with the prednisone I've gained another 20. I'm just going to live through this and start over...
