The Stealing of Graceland ( A real life story)

Deed Stealing is when a fraudulent deed is recorded against a property, effectively putting the fraudsters in the position of owner of the property. Deed Stealing has been around for quite a while.
Originally this technique was used on homeowners in financial trouble (foreclosure, bankruptcy) as the thief assumed the legitimate owner would not have the financial resources to bring a court action to get their title back.
Counties usually have a system known as “Property Fraud Alert” at the County Clerk’s website to notify owners if a document is being recorded against the property.
This gives the owner the opportunity to respond and make sure it is not a fraudulent conveyance.
It appears these criminals are upping their game. It seems they went after arguably the most famous private home in the United States and possibly the world, Graceland.
Graceland, located in Memphis Tennessee was the home of Elvis Presley. Graceland is still owned by a legal entity as part of Elvis’s estate.
Believe it or not, Graceland went up for auction with what appears to be counterfeit documents. The sale was stopped on the day of the sale by the Courts who realized something isn’t quite legit.
