Last week, a few of our board members, Kara Hayes (with some help from Haven), Jennifer Ostafin, Matt Watson, Tim Watson, and Steven Storrs delivered $10,000.00 to the Barry Community Foundation to be used for scholarship funds for Barry County residents who are pursing a career in the trades! We are very proud of this gift and so very thankful to our supporters who made this possible.

Awesome!

This week on behalf of the Always Leave Smiling Foundation, and made possible by the support from our generous donors, Tim and Matt Watson delivered a $10,000 check to the Barry County United Way. These funds will be used to provide assistance to Barry County residents who are having trouble paying uninsured cancer related expenses. Something we know their father would be proud of.

Nathan E. Tagg is an attorney and community leader focused on investing in people and organizations. He earned his law degree from Howard University School of Law in 2004, where he received notable scholarships and completed a fellowship with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York. He was first admitted to practice in California before returning to Michigan to continue his legal career.

Tagg has held several leadership and public service roles, including an appointment to the Michigan Board of Auctioneers and participation in local leadership programs. He is deeply involved in his community, serving on multiple boards and organizations related to banking, healthcare, education, youth development, and nonprofit work.

A strong advocate for youth engagement, he founded and leads the Barry County Junior Golf Association, co-owns a local golf course, and coaches youth sports. He has also contributed to numerous charitable and civic initiatives. Tagg lives in Barry County with his wife and three children and enjoys spending time with family and golfing.

Steven G. Storrs is a Hastings, Michigan–based attorney who grew up locally and graduated from Hastings High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a business focus from Central Michigan University and later received his law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.

Before practicing law, he worked as a teacher and varsity boys’ basketball coach at Hastings High School. He was also involved in his family’s business, River Bend Golf Course. He is licensed to practice in all Michigan state courts and handles a wide range of legal areas, including custody, divorce, civil litigation, cannabis law and licensing, business law, contracts, real estate and property issues, criminal law, estate planning, and probate and trust administration.

Storrs is active in professional and community organizations, including serving as President of the Barry County Bar Association and on several local boards. He lives in Hastings with his family and is known for his client-focused, relationship-driven approach to legal representation.

Meet David H. Tripp, born in Iron Mountain, Michigan in 1952, is an attorney who has practiced law in Hastings, Michigan since 1978. He earned a history degree from Michigan State University in 1974 and a law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1978, the same year he was admitted to the Michigan State Bar.

Tripp has extensive experience practicing in Michigan’s district, circuit, probate, appellate, and supreme courts, as well as in federal courts. His legal work focuses on estate planning, probate, business law, contracts, civil litigation, and real estate. He is particularly experienced in lake-related property disputes and riparian rights cases, and has argued numerous cases before the Michigan Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, contributing to both published and unpublished legal opinions.
