12th Annual CCBA Women’s Law Section 1 Mile Run/Walk & 5k!

I can’t believe I’ve worked with these amazing women for twelve years now to coordinate such an amazing cause. Y’all have heard Analisa, Estela, and I complain every year that WE ARE NOT DOING THIS ANYMORE 😤. Yet here we are 😆. It is a cause that is so near and dear to our hearts we just can’t let go. Sponsorship of this cause goes directly towards the purchase of a new pair of shoes for children in need across our county.

What an honor to speak again at the Cameron County Bar Association Judge Arturo Nelson & Annabell Alegria Criminal and Family Law CLE.

Annabell was a dear mentor to me—as a colleague, mediator, and amicus attorney—and Judge Nelson has handled some of the toughest multi-party mediations around. I have learned so much from both of them over the years.

It made it especially meaningful to present “From Discovery to Done: Winning the Family Law Mediation Before It Starts” at a CLE event named in their honor.

Grateful for the opportunity to share a little of what I’ve learned along the way. ❤️ Job well done to the speakers and the committee for putting on a great event!

Okay y’all, your turn. 👇

I’ve covered a lot of the basics, but family law has about a MILLION things we could talk about.

What do you actually want to know?

Drop your Texas family law questions in the comments and I’ll start answering them in upcoming videos. Divorce, custody, visitation, child support, mediation, property division, court—ask away!

General information only, of course—not legal advice about your individual case. ⚖️

Going into child custody mediation knowing “I want more time” isn’t enough.

Think through the details: the regular possession schedule, holidays, summer, exchanges, decision-making, extracurricular activities, communication, geographic restrictions — and most importantly, your priorities.

Know what really matters to you, what may actually work for your children, and where you have room to compromise.

That wraps up my mediation series! ⚖️ If you missed the earlier videos, go back and watch:
• What is mediation?
• Documents to prepare for divorce mediation
• What do you Want? Property Division considerations
• Documents to prepare for child-related mediation
• And finally — what to consider before child-related mediation

Going to mediation over child custody, visitation, or other child-related issues? Preparation isn’t just about knowing what you want — it’s also about having the information you need to make good decisions.

Start gathering the documents that help show what the current arrangement is and what is actually happening.

And then comes the harder part… deciding what you want your parenting plan to look like. 👀 Part 2 next.

General information only. Every family law case is different. Talk to your attorney about what documents are relevant to your particular case.

Mediation isn’t just about negotiating—it’s about knowing your priorities before you sit down at the table.

Ask yourself what matters most. Not every issue is equally important, and understanding your goals can help you make better decisions during mediation.

Every case is different, so talk with your attorney about the options available in your specific situation.

Going to divorce mediation? Preparation matters.

Having the right financial documents can make mediation more efficient and help everyone negotiate from the same information.

This is a general checklist—not every case requires every document, and your attorney may ask for additional information depending on your circumstances.
