Geremy is a student from Houston ISD with aspirations of becoming a barber and investing in his community. His application for asylum was approved in 2025, but USCIS failed to update his status. As a result, he was detained by ICE earlier this year and is currently at risk of deportation, losing everything he's built for himself in the United States.

ProBAR is fighting for due process rights on behalf of thousands of children and young adults like Geremy who have fled their home country in pursuit of safety and a better life for themselves.

ProBAR attorneys represent children in ORR custody who wait months beyond legal timelines to be reunified with their parents. We see sponsors detained, children held without explanation, and families kept in the dark about their own child’s well-being.

The Senate Finance Committee’s request for transparency and accountability from ORR is encouraging and a critical step toward keeping children safe and reuniting them with their families.

This past April, Chicago-Kent College of Law student Sahil Bathija visited ProBAR as part of our ‘Last Line of Defense’ pro bono project.
