Despite dismissal of criminal charges deemed vindictive prosecution after erroneously deporting him to El Salvador's CECOT mega-prison and then being forced to return him by order of a federal judge, "the government is still trying to deport him, having rejected his offer to be removed to Costa Rica and instead gunning to send him to Liberia, where he’s never been, after an effort to deport him to Uganda, where he’s also never been. Every time there’s a new twist in this saga, I see people asking the same basic questions: Are they being serious? Is the administration still expending resources, over a year-plus, in a fanatical attempt to screw over this one guy? Why?"

A pesar de que se desestimaron los cargos penales, considerados una persecución vengativa tras su errónea deportación a la megaprisión CECOT de El Salvador y su posterior regreso forzoso por orden de un juez federal, "el gobierno sigue intentando deportarlo, tras rechazar su ofrecimiento de ser deportado a Costa Rica y empeñado en enviarlo a Liberia, donde nunca ha estado, después de un intento fallido de deportarlo a Uganda, donde tampoco ha estado nunca. Cada vez que surge un nuevo giro en esta saga, veo a la gente haciéndose las mismas preguntas básicas: ¿Hablan en serio? ¿Sigue la administración gastando recursos, durante más de un año, en un intento fanático de perjudicar a este hombre? ¿Por qué?"
