Forgiveness does not excuse pain, nor does it erase what happened. It can help people understand how family wounds pass from one generation to the next, often through parents who carried their own fear, stress, silence, or lack of support. Many parents raise children with the tools they received, and some had few tools at all. Recognizing that truth can create room for healing, even when boundaries remain needed. Growth begins when people can hold two facts at once: a parent may have done their best, and their child may still have been hurt. Forgiveness, at its healthiest, is less about forgetting and more about choosing peace without denying the past. 💙🤝
