It is with mixed emotions that I announce the closing of The Law Office of Harvey W. Cook and Cook Title & Closing Services effective March 31, 2020. The last 28 years have been an amazing journey.
I have taken a position with Altisource. They are a global company with offices in Luxembourg, Bangalore,India and Uruguay outside the United States and Arlington, TX, Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA, Coppell, TX. Dallas, TX, Dunwoody, GA, Endicott, NY, Lawrenceville, GA., Maryland Heights, MO., North Atlanta, GA, Plano, TX, Saint Louis, MO, Sandy Springs, GA, Tempe, AZ and Ventura, California and numerous other locations inside the United States.
I will be Senior Manager of compliance for Title Services and MRES which includes companies such as Premium Title Services, Granite, Hubzu, Trustee Services, and numerous other companies that handle everything from Title insurance and closing services to mortgage origination services and REO management and maintenance services. It will be a welcome challenge that will allow me to utilize my more than 28 years of experience closing both residential and commercial real estate transactions.
To all of my clients/ friends I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives in realizing your dream of Home ownership. Many of you are like family to me and I am grateful that you entrusted me with the responsibility of handling your closings over and over again. It has been an Honor. I will miss each and every one of you.
I want to thank Lonny Myles for hiring me straight out of Law School and entrusting me with running your Hammond office. You gave an inexperienced attorney an opportunity of a Lifetime and started me on this long strange trip. For that I am truly grateful. To Patsy McManus and Pam Hebert (my other Mother) I owe you a debt of gratitude I can never repay for putting up with me as long as you did. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you Pam. You are greatly missed I can still hear you singing Big Black Train to Georgia. Those of you that knew her know the song. Lmao
To the amazing agents I have had the opportunity to work with over the years.... I thank you. Many of you were with me from day one, some were at my wedding and have been like family to me. Rossie and clan I love y’all You took me in like family and made me a part of your lives outside of the office To all the loan officers that entrusted me with your business, one even danced on a table at My wedding. Several of you stood by me and went to bat for me at one of the darkest times of my life. You know who you are I thank each and every one of you for giving me the opportunities that you did and you have my heartfelt thanks.
To all my staff, present and former, thanks for putting up with my unorganized ass. Each of you were like family to me. You were more than just employees I wish you all the best. Gina, thank you for coming aboard a sinking ship and believing in me. Your help and dedication lately have been invaluable. Jen. Thanks for your loyalty and help. You stuck around when others jumped ship.
To all of my colleagues that I have had the honor and privilege to work with in this industry that still hold the old values and work together with others in the business and show professional courtesy. I thank each of you for your professional courtesy and respectful dealings in a business that has become more about greed and shutting others down than about providing a quality product and service. I was recently accused of being “old school” in my approach to this business. Mark Rolling, Scott Sledge, A.C. Powell, Gary Peltier, Andre Coudrain, Jonathon Schmidt, Rachael Arteaga and my brother Rick Singer thanks for remaining “old school” and showing professional courtesy and consideration in a business that has become increasingly negative and cut throat. As Attorneys you are all gentlemen and scholars and I have the utmost respect and admiration for each of you. As Title professionals Deborah and Patty thank you for your professionalism and courtesy in our dealings. Both of you ladies are amazing. Tiffany, my former employee, but first and foremost my colleague and fellow Attorney, I love you my friend and wish you all the best. Thanks for standing by me. Sorry for the way things ended and I’ll be in touch before I leave.
There are so many others that I need to thank and show my gratitude too but y’all are too numerous to mention. Thank every one of you that I have mentioned as well as those I may have missed for an amazing 28 years. I have been truly blessed
Finally, I will be relocating to El Paso, Texas in May. This is the hardest decision I have had to make in my adult life. Hammond is my home. This is where I have spent the last 25 years raising an amazing young lady who will still be here. All my friends are here as well as my extended families. I love this place and it will always be home. For some this will be good news. And I actually want to thank those persons because but for you I would have probably passed on this amazing opportunity when they called and offered me this job. So thank you and I wish you all the best. For the rest of the people that are such a huge part of my life. I love every one of you and will miss you sooo so much. Hammond will Always be my home. Forgive me for being so long winded with this, but how do you wrap up 29 years in a few words. You just can’t
So anyway. Adios Amigos. Oh and does anyone have a Rosetta Stone program they want to part with. I think it would be beneficial for me to learn Spanish
Much Love and Goodbye my friends....
Harvey W. Cook
